sɪᴛᴛɪɴɢ in the back seat of Rory's little yellow car, Kate can't help but scream excitedly as they go crashing through the wheat field, somehow still alive despite the heatwave that has been puncturing the little town of Leadworth for the past few weeks. In the passenger seat, Amy is shouting out instructions to her husband, ordering him around the wheat field so that he can perfectly spell out D-O-C-T-O-R like they are aliens trying to perfect their crop circle to scare off humans.

Kate's excited yelling continues as she's jostled around in the back seat, her thighs constantly sticking and unsticking to the leather seats beneath her green tartan skirt - fashionably styled with a white, sleeveless top that she stole from the 70's section of the TARDIS for summer days like this - and trying not to get too excited at the prospect of seeing the Doctor. It had been a week since he'd visited her flat. Amy's last attempt at contacting the Doctor by doing something wild and dangerous - flying a plane to write out his name in the clouds - had obviously failed and she had resorted to something a little less out of Kate's comfort zone.

They come to a halt at Amy's frantic yelling of 'stop!', landing only metres away from the big blue box and the man leaning against it, newspaper in hand and amusement laced on his features. Slowly, the three of them get out, Amy having to move her seat just so Kate could actually leave the vehicle.

They stare him down until he lifts the newspaper, showing off the headline.

LEADWORTH'S CROP CIRCLES

"Seriously?" his voice rings out in the vast field.

"Well, you never answer your phone," Rory simply replies with a shrug. Kate can't help but smirk as her eyes rake over the man standing in front of them in his perfectly cut suit, small smile on his perfectly cut features. She can still picture him leaning over her in her bed, holding her face gently while he kissed away her troubles at having to wait to see him again. His smile turns into the same sort of nostalgic smirk when he sees her, the same memories running through his head.

"Okay, you've had all summer," Amy is quick to interrupt their dirty thoughts, storming over to the Doctor. "Have you found her? Have you found Melody?"

The Doctor's face drops as he asks Rory permission to hug Amy. Rory grants it and the simple act of a hug is all the answer they need. This is the politest way that he can tell her he's failed to track her down, but it is enough to know that he will eventually. They know that he will.
