Chapter twenty-eight

I walk down stairs to Niks room, and see one of his hybrids walking around, looking confused. "Can I help you?" I ask. He looks at me and I smile. "Do you know who Emilin and Ansley are? I'm supposed to be watching after them, for some guy names Jermey is in California as of now." He says and I look at him. "What did you say?!" I ask harshly. "Are you Emilin?" He asks. I nod and he frowns.

I hear crying, so I run upstairs to my room. I see two woman, one is playing with Ansley, and the other looks up at me. She starts muttering something, and I fall to the ground holding my head in pain. I start crying, and someone snaps the witches necks.

I gasp then run to Ansley. I pick her up as she's screaming at the top of her lungs. "It's okay darling!" I say then kiss her forehead. "Klaus will kill me if you two get hurt!" He says. I grab my phone and call my older brother.

Hello, little sister
Nik, why do I have to have one of your hybrids as a babysitter?!
Jordan is the only sire I have left! You are going to have to deal with it!
What am I supposed to do with him just watching me?!

I get cut off when he hangs up. "I was told you can't leave the house, and if you left, I would have to call him. I decide to call my oldest brother. I call and he doesn't pick up, so I call Elijah. He doesn't pick up, and I start crying.

I grab Ansley, then run. He appears in front of me. "I don't want to hurt you!" He says. "I'm older!" I say and he smirks. "Well new hybrid beats old vampire!" He says. "Original vampire beats new hybrid!" I say then vamp speed to the car. I put Ansley in her car seat, then speed to the drivers seat.

I get to the Gilbert home, and I grab Ansley. I run up the steps, and walk in. I see Kol on the ground, on fire. "No!" I say then fall to the ground crying. "Emilin, I'm so sorry!" He says. I call Nik again. I hear a phone ringing outside the door, so I look. I see Nik standing there with tears in his eyes. I hand Jermey Ansley, then run to him.

"Finns dead to. Damon and Stefan killed him. Mother linked us, they killed him thinking it would kill all of us. They wanted to kill me." He says hugging me back. I pull away from him, and turn to my husband and sister-in-law. "Y-you k-killed m-my brother? I ask more tears falling even harder.

I walk up the stairs of my room, and slam the door. "You idiot! You let my sister and niece out of the house!" I can hear Nik yelling, not even using my original vamp hearing. I run down there and push Nik against the wall. "It's not his fault, I knocked him out." I lie.

He looks at me shocked. I realize that I just hurt my brother and yelled at him, so I sink to my knees with tear pouring. Nik pulls me into his lap, and rocks us back and forth. "It's okay, little sister." He says. "Make the pain go away Nik! Please!" I beg. "Sister, you know there is only one way I can for sure do that for you." He says and I look at him shocked.

"Do it." I say. "What?!" He asks. "Please, do it." I say. "Are you sure, I will only do this if you are 100% sure!" He says and I while the tears. "Pull it out after a week. Do not, leave me in that coffin any longer!" I say and he nods. He nods then goes to his room for a second. He comes back then shows it to me.

"Emilin Lean Gilbert, I give you my word, that I will keep you staggered no longer and no less then a week." He says and I smile. I kiss his cheek, and hold his hand as he lightly plunges the dagger into my chest.
