You and Kuma were hanging around while waiting for Matthew to come back. You two were sitting on the couch when Kuma asked an unexpected question.

"(Y/N), you and Canada seem happy together. It makes me wonder, did you have someone before him?"

"I guess you could say that. It was a terrifying experience. His name was (E/N). He was one of my best friends during our last year of high school. After we graduated, he asked me out. Everything was going well. Until I found out the type of person he truly was. He hated animals with a deep passion and would... kill them too. Tearing them apart, piece by piece. While on the other hand, I love animals and I couldn't stand by and watch. He also took pictures of me without me knowing. I felt terrible, I eventually broke it off and reported him to the police, I've yet to know what happened to him or his whereabouts."

"Wow, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I hope they punished him for those horrible crimes."

You and Kuma heard the door unlocking. It must be Matthew. You went to the door and opened it to find an unpleasant face from your past. It was your ex.

"(E/N)... you..." You started to walk backward, stiffing up from shock.

"I've missed you, (Y/N)... it's been years... found someone who makes you happy, huh? Isn't that nice?" He let himself in. "Please, come back to me and we can- what's that?" He asked, pointing to Kuma. You stepped in front of him.

"Back off, (E/N). He has nothing to do us. Leave him alone, get out or I'm calling the cops. Now!"

"Filthy animal... it doesn't deserve to exist!" He said, running towards Kuma at full speed.

"Run, Kuma!"

Kuma jumped off the couch, ran towards a room and locking it. He tried knocking the door down, but it was no use. He looked at you with venom covering his eyes.

"(Y/N), why do you defend your pet like this...?"

"First off, he's not a pet, he's a friend. Second, he's not mine."

"Yeah, he's mine!"

A voice said, you turn around and see Matthew. You ran up to him and gave him a hug. Feeling safe in his arms.

"Did he hurt you, maple?" Matthew asked, stroking your cheek.

"I'm fine, but he tried to hurt Kuma! He's in that room."

"Did he now...?" He said, letting go and grabbing a nearby hockey stick. You hid behind him and peaked your eye to see a different side of Matthew. Maybe a side you wouldn't mind seeing every once in a while.

After a good beating of your ex, he was sent to the hospital and prison. The three of you sat quietly in the living room. When Kuma fell asleep, Matthew put his arm around you.

"I'm glad the two of you are okay. I wish I would have come sooner though..."

"Don't worry about it, I was fully ready to take him down after Kuma locked himself in the room."

"Thank you."

"No, thank you. My ex's face was priceless when you grabbed the hockey stick!"
