We are now heading to Edinburgh for the last few days of our trip. Scott has got along great with my parents and my friends. My dad is dropping us off at the airport for our flight "Safe flight and call when you get there and humour your gran when she brings up great grandkids" he says "Kids aren't part of the plan yet which I'm sure your delighted with" I say "I'd prefer if you never left home or got married or any of the things you've done so far. But your happy and Scott is a good one as your mum would say" he says "I'll always be your little girl no matter where I am" I say "I know love you" he says "Love you too dad" I say and we hug and he kisses the top of my head. He shares a manly handshake with Scott "Look after her for me" he says "Always" Scott says. We have some time to kill before our flight once we've gone through security so we grab some food and do some shopping in duty free event though we already have gifts for my grandparents. We get asked for some pictures which is a new experience for me and we of course do it.
We're staying in an air bnb for the few days so we get a cab from the airport straight there. We'd usually stay with my grandparents but we kinda wanted our own space and we have some work to do as I have scripts to read and Scott is working out details for the Pacific Rim press tour and also things to do with the house. We freshen up and then we head to my grandparents we're walking there as it isn't too far from where we're staying "First impressions" I say "It's really beautiful here I can see why you love it. A person could get used to country living" he says "If I wasn't acting I think I'd be living in a small country town I kind of always imagined that would be my life but now I picture our house the life we're gonna build there" I say "I imagined staying in San Diego for awhile and settling down on a ranch somewhere simple living no Hollywood distractions" he says "I've always been more of a country girl anyway" I say "We both are" he says "Fair warning my gran will bring up kids she's obsessed with having great grandkids before she dies and as her oldest and only granddaughter she expects me to be the one who does that so humour her and my grandad is even more protective than my dad he's always been tough on my boyfriends so be prepared for an interrogation from him" I say "Got it" he says.
We arrive at my grandparents and we're greeted warmly by my gran "Call me Jane or gran you are practically family" she says "Jane will be fine gran" I say and we go into the living room where my grandad is "There's my favourite granddaughter" he says "Your only granddaughter but I'll take it" I say and we hug "Grandad this is Scott my boyfriend Scott my grandad Henry" I say "Nice to finally meet you Violet talks about you alot" Scott says and they shake hands "You hurt her I hurt you" grandad says "I have no intention of ever hurting Violet she's a huge part of my life now and I love her more than anything. I'm all in just like she is" Scott says "I'd told Jane's father something similar when he doubted my intentions with her and here I am married to her for 60 years" he says "Now that's out of the way why don't we have some lunch" gran says "Sounds good to me" I say. I help gran with the washing up after lunch while Scott and grandad chat "Your mum mentioned that man got out of jail how you holding up" she says "Good Scott's been great and I've been able to distract myself with work and the house. I'm hoping he just stays away we have measures in place to make sure he does but I'm somebody now and he may hate me for that I got the glamorous Hollywood life and his was ruined by what he did" I say "You deserve everything you have you worked hard for it and you deserve the love you have with Scott don't let him taint that" she says "I won't" I say. We stay for another while before heading back to our air bnb and ordering some food and having an early night.
The next day we get up early to go to Arthur's Seat on a hike which is one of the most beautiful spots in Edinburgh. Once we get back and shower together to reserve water of course we make some breakfast and then we head out to do some sightseeing and shopping before we meet up with my grandparents for dinner later. We visit Edinburgh Castle and some other sights and grab some lunch before going back to have some chill time before dinner.
We are now at dinner "Your leaving tomorrow" gran says "I know it's been too quick" I say "We'll be back here soon and I'm going to be here in the spring for the play so you can come see me in London" I say "Of course we will getting back to where you began will do wonders for you" she says "I know" I say. We have a nice final day with my grandparents before our flight that evening I'm going back to San Diego before I go back to Vancouver for the last week or so of filming but we're heading to Tokyo soon as well.
