"You don't need a sunset to feel the warmth of it's colors."

Hour one
Darry was driving with Two-Bit in the front seat. Steve, Soda and Ponyboy sat in the middle, and Johnny, Dally and I sat in the way back. We were in the country by then, almost to the capitol.

"Cake. Give us cake." Two-Bit demanded.

"Okay hold up." I reached into into the cooler beneath us. "Here." I passed the Tupperware up to the front.

"YES!!" Steve shouted. He passed some around.

"You don't want any Kitten?" Dal asked as he took some.

"No my stomach hurts." I wasn't car sick, I didn't get car sick. This was different.

"Are you okay?" He put his hand on my thigh.

"Yes I'm fine." I smiled and laid my head on his shoulder. Elvis blasted from the speakers. Ponyboy was singing into an imaginary microphone and Johnny was staring out the window in a daze as usual.

Hour two
"And welcome ladies and gentlemen to.... Oklahoma City!!!!" Two-Bit announced. Whoops and cheers filled the vehicle.

"Sodapop you're driving in two hours."

"Feeling any better?" Dal asked.

"Yeah." I kissed him. "Much better."

Hour three
"STEVE SHUT UP!!" Dal shouted. Steve only responded with a screech. Coffee was not a good idea. For anyone.

"Guys!!! What's for lunch?" Soda asked.

"I already packed some." Darry responded. "It's somewhere is the cooler. But we eat in an hour."

"Ughhh." Everyone responded. Johnny had fallen asleep on my lap. I ran my fingers through his hair as I leaned on Dal. I stopped and he jerked awake.

"Don't stop. That feels good." He whispers as he laid back down. Johnny slept curled into a ball. He reminded me of a little kid who loses their parents in the store and starts to freak out. Ever since I got here I felt the urge to protect him and shield him from every bad thing the world had. I knew i couldn't but I could try.

Hour four
"We have a gas break coming up in 21 miles. We have 13 minutes to get gas, pee, and get what we need. More than enough. Soda you take over the wheel and I call shot gun." I called. "Johnny wake up."

"What."  He mumbled. His hair all messy and drool on his face and my legs.

"You pass out lunch. I have the names on each lunch pack labeled. Dal you take care of drinks. Two-Bit no alcohol until after your driver shift." That earned nods and a groan from Two.

The van slowed to a stop. We jumped out before it stopped.

"GO GO GO!!" We made a bet to see who was the fastest. Dal and I ran to get cigarettes, gum, and energy drinks. Johnny grabbed chips. The rest went to the restroom and get their own snacks and Pony stayed to fill the gas. Soon me and Dal are the first to reach the van. We shout in victory as the rest come flooding out. I take my new seat with Soda and wait for Pony. Johnny passed out food while Dal passes drinks. We are off.

"Good job guys. Dal and I won though." I say through my full mouth. I was starving. I look back at Dal who is talking to Johnny. They both smile which makes me smile.

Hour Six
"I need to pee." Pony says.

"Hold it." Soda says, switching lanes. We were doing good. "Two more hours till our next switch."
