"How are you feeling?" Caitlin asked as she walked over to Wally who was sitting upright in the bed. The colour had come back to his face now and he looked much better, but that still didn't make Caitlin feel any better about the situation. If they were going up against someone who could steal their powers and make them weak, how could they defeat him?
"Much better. Thank you, Caitlin." Wally smiled at her, trying to show how much he appreciated her help. He jumped off the bed and followed Caitlin into the cortex.
"We can head to the speed lab and see if your speed has fully returned." She told him as he happily nodded his head, walking with her to the speed lab. Once they got there Wally immediately got on the track and began running. Caitlin followed his speed and smiled when she saw that his speed was completely back. She was happy that this person didn't steal his powers completely, but that didn't mean that he couldn't.
She was petrified of this person. The last three villains they had gone up against were speedsters, but going against someone who could steal powers terrified her. At least when Barry would go into the field before she knew that he was going up against someone who was only just faster than him, how do you go up against someone who takes away the one thing that could help defeat him?
"Is he going to be okay?" Iris asked as she stood beside Caitlin, looking at the screen to see how Wally was doing.
"He has his speed back." Caitlin said, her eyes never leaving the screen.
"That's a good thing! Why do you sound like it's not?"
"We don't know anything about this guy."
"Come on, we've gone against plenty of people who we know nothing about." Iris tried to help her feel at ease. She knew that Caitlin had taken everything that has happened the hardest and worried about everything more than she used to.
"At least then we knew they were speedsters. We don't even know what he is. Is he a meta? A different type of speedster? We don't know." Caitlin sighed, running her fingers through her long hair.
"Hey, it's okay -"
"Look what that tiny bit of smoke did to Wally, Iris. Would happens if he decides to take more? What if he takes all of their powers? What then?" Caitlin raised her voice at Iris and she flinched. She didn't meant to get so heated, but she couldn't help but feel scared for what was to come. Sure every other villain they had gone against scared her, but with Barry not having his memories or three years worth of proper training and experience, she knew this could end up terribly wrong.
Iris smiled at Caitlin and placed her hand on her shoulder. "We've got Barry's powers back before, we can always do it again."
"I'm not sure..."
"I get that you're scared. We all are, but we can't just leave this and keep them in because of the unknown. The more interactions we have, the more we know. Honestly, I don't think we can get any worse than Savitar."
"Yeah, that's what you'd think." Caitlin mumbled to herself. It just seems that once they defeat one, the next is even worse. It seemed like a pattern by now.
"Have you told Barry about that?" Iris asked Caitlin.
"About Savitar?"
"Yeah. He did try to kill you after all."
"No. I don't want him to worry about me." Caitlin tried to brush it off, but Iris kept pushing. Sure, Barry didn't have his memories of the last three years but he should be kept up to speed on all of the events, no matter how traumatizing they were. "I think he's going to worry about you anyway, you might as well tell him." She gave Caitlin a smile.
