Hello!

Quick thing: If you live in Paris, or anywhere in France, and I'm getting any of this wrong, I am incredibly sorry for screwing it up. If you would inform me on how to fix my mistakes, please private message me and I will edit the story to become accurate.

Thanks!

As Adrien entered into the amazing world of the Paris Carnival, he felt the excitement and joy of all the beautiful colors, but also quite lonely. His father didn't want to join him, as usual, and Chloe seemed to repulse at the idea of going to a "poor people celebration." And, while this was quite normal to Adrien, what wasn't normal was how Nino couldn't go either.

"Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I gotta work on this new music thing. Hey, why not invite Marinette? I bet she'd love to go." Nino offered.

So, as Adrien waited in front of the haunted house, he bit his lip and looked around. Marinette had accepted very quickly, but he wondered if she was the kind of person to forget plans. Or to accept plans without meaning them. He hoped that, if it was either, it was the former. It most likely was, until someone shoved into him.

"I'm so sorry! I'm so late! I was getting some cotton candy and drinks for us, then I realized I didn't know what you liked to drink, and I was going to text you but-" Marinette squeaked as Adrien hugged her, laughing.

"I'm just glad to see you." He smiled to her, looking into her eyes. If anyone were to watch them now (for example, the current reader), they could just see how these two young adults stared at each other wasn't just in the way most young friends would stare at each other.

Adrien pulled away and smiled. "So, you said something about cotton candy, right? What is that?"

Marinette's jaw dropped, then pouted. "Open your super model mouth, we're breaking your diet!"

Adrien quirked his eyebrow, but opened his mouth slightly. Before he could object, Marinette pushed a piece of the sugary pink floss into his mouth. He closed his mouth and it started to melt, making his face contort from pure, innocent confusion, to overwhelming joy.

"This is amazing!"

Marinette laughed and took some cotton candy for herself. "I always liked cherry, so I thought you might like it too."

He smiled, then took her hand. "Come on, let's look around. Maybe they'll even have a roller coaster, or maybe an anti-gravity !"

As Adrien tugged her along, Marinette did not pay attention to whatever the handsome young man holding her hand was saying. She was more zoning out and focusing on how soft his hand felt, how he gripped her hand gently but firmly as if she could fly off any moment (her head did feel like it was being blown up with hot air), and his eyes lit up when they found games and rides of all kind there. There was even a mask booth, and when Adrien held up one to her face, she blushed intensely at how his fingers brushed against her cheeks gently. However, Adrien seemed to notice something about Marinette in the mask. Whatever it was, she didn't have time to find out as he put the mask away and pulled them both all around the fair again.

She blushed slightly and looked to what ride he was amazed by: the Ferris wheel, the kind that held only 2-4 people at a time. As much as Marinette was okay with the idea of being in the air with someone (or being in the air with Adrien), she was not really okay with the idea of being in the air, with Adrien alone. And, she could probably bet 4.09 euros ($5) that they would end up on the Ferris wheel, in a carriage, alone.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marinette hated being right sometimes, you know?

She and Adrien had gotten into the short line for the Ferris wheel and, lo and behold, they were in one carriage, together, alone. And, as if that didn't seem as bad, they were very close. As in, Marinette wasn't sure how you could usually fit 4 people into this tiny carriage, since it could barely fit 2!

And Adrien nonchalantly put his arm around her shoulder. Cue internal screaming in 3, 2-

CLANG! CREAK! BANG! Adrien was thrown on top of Marinette as the whole wheel came to a halt. It wasn't until a few seconds later when Marinette opened her eyes that she saw Adrien leaning over her, only an inch or 2 from her face being smashed onto his (which she wouldn't have objected to), and blushing madly. Wait, she got that last part right, right? Adrien was...

Blushing?

They both got up and looked around, then saw that the operator was holding a megaphone.

"Don't worry," he called through the megaphone. "We'll have this all sorted through."

The two teens sat back down, then Marinette let out a soft sigh.

"What's wrong?" Adrien asked, looking curiously at her.

She froze and smiled widely. "Oh nothing! I-Uh-I just-Um... I'm afraid of heights?!"

Adrien frowned. "I am so sorry. I shouldn't have dragged you up here. I didn't know, I'm sorry-"

Marinette wildly shook her head. "It's fine! I mean, yeah, I'm scared... But who wouldn't be? Up here in the sky, and seeing this all around you..."

Adrien looked to her and was about to ask what she meant, when he finally saw it all.

"Whoa."

The sun was setting into a beautiful palette of pinks, purples, and yellows with white, fluffy clouds dotting the sky. A few beams still shone over the beautiful silhouette of the city, shadowing some of the buildings, but illuminating the others. A few birds flew over, and Marinette swore she could smell the sweet scent of cinnamon and rosemary right next to her.

She looked to Adrien, but didn't step away. Just watched as he was fully engrossed into the painting of the scene in from of them. For him, however, the scent wasn't cinnamon, but roses and lilacs. Maybe even a lotus flower? He looked to her and smiled.

"... Marinette?"

"Yeah?"

"... Would you... Like to have some lunch? Or, go see a movie? For a date?"

"Oh!" she sighed, rolling her eyes and smiling. "Well, I'm not particularly peckish right now, but- Wait, what?"  She stopped, looking to him with confusion.

"I guess what I'm asking is... Would you like to go on a date?"

She smiled, then nodded.

Hey babes and pal!

That was different than the last few fics, eh? Was it good? I thought about making the ending a fake out, like Marinette dreamed it all, but I guess I just went, 'Meh, give my readers what they want.'

Also, my stepsister reads this crap and I don't know if she likes the multiple MariChat ships.

Another thing, I wanted to take it kinda... Slow, for once. It's not often these fics ship these two slowly.

Speaking of slow, I wanted to ask you all something.

Okay: I got an idea for a story a while back involving water nymphs. Now, this isn't part of any AU's for any fandoms, just something I thought up. I wanted to ask you guys if you wanted to... Possibly read it?

Comment here for Yes.

Comment here for No.

And, comment here for 'I'm just here for the food.'

Thank you, babes and pals. I'll try to update sooner.

Love you!
