Chapter 8- Dorms

Asad came to the door room marked sixty-eight. He put the key in the door and turned the lock. He came in and was somewhat surprised to see another person was already in there with his stuff unpacked.

"Hi, I guess I'm your new room mate. I'm Lot," Lot said shaking Asad's hand. Lot looked around the age of fifteen or so. He had dirty blonde hair that came down to his eyes. He had dark brown eyes and wore some kind of rock clothes. He seemed like the person to play electric guitar.

"I'm Asad," Asad said pulling away from the handshake. Lot smiled and sat down on the bed. It was a small dorm room, but it was nice. "So Lot, does that name mean something?" Asad asked putting down his bag.

"It means disappear," Lot said taking a sip of water.

"Disappear, like what? You go invisible?" Asad said tilting his head.

"No, I uh, teleport," Lot said shifting his hands to his side. "Does Asad mean something?" Lot asked.

"Yeah, lion actually," Asad said taking out his clothes and putting it in the drawer.

"Lion? You mean you shape-shift?" Lot gasped in awe.

"Every time I bite my lip!" Asad said smiling.

"Oh, every time I snap my fingers I go to the place I have set in my head," Lot sighed.

"Like in some movie? Snapping your fingers?" Asad said smiling.

"Pretty much. I came to this school because of my parents. They hated it when I would transport away," Lot said. "But I have boundaries. I can only transport myself anywhere in a thirty mile radius," Lot said smiling. "You only learn that once," Lot said frowning. Asad turned hearing his mood change.

"What do you mean?" Asad asked kneeling down to the bottom drawer of the cabinet to put his clothes in.

"I tried to go to the store way across town. It was too far from the thirty mile range, and I uh, landed by the highway. Like a few inches from being run over! I was so close to dying," Lot said rubbing his hand through his hair.

"Why did you end up there?" Asad asked curious to know.

"It was in the thirty mile range on the border to be exact. I ended up having to walk home because I didn't have my phone. And I couldn't teleport back home either because there were too many people around. I couldn't just go behind a bush or something. I got in trouble so many times from trying to disappear thinking I wasn't seen. A total bust alright," Lot groaned.

"Yeah makes sense. I only shape-shift whenever I have to, or just want to scare someone," Asad laughed.

"Can you show me your shape-shift...maybe?" Lot asked smiling.

"Okay, sure," Asad shrugged biting his lip. Lot's eyes widened as Asad changed into a cougar.

"Whoa!" Lot gasped smiling. "So cool!" Lot said in awe.

"It's pretty cool," Asad shrugged.

"Wait, you're a cougar not a lion?" Lot asked confused.

"Yeah, my parents thought it was close enough to cougar," Asad sighed. Then someone knocked on the door. Lot went over to the door and opened it.

"Why hello," Lot smirked.

"Who is it?" Asad said going into the bathroom to change back to his regular self.

"I need Asad," A voice came from the door. Lot sighed.

"It's for you," Lot said motioning his hand towards the door. Asad came out of the bathroom and went over to the door.

"Hey Asad," Septer said waving her hand.

"What is it?" Asad asked smiling awkwardly.

"Oh just Derick and Alessia. I can't stand them, together," Septer groaned. Lot peaked behind Asad.

"Maybe you and me could be toge-" Lot began.

"I have a boyfriend. Sorry," Septer said narrowing her eyes.

"So you wanted to get away from them...?" Asad asked as his voice faded.

"Pretty much," Septer said shrugging her shoulders. Asad nodded. "So who's your room mate?" Septer asked.

"Lot, nice to meet you," Lot said holding out his hand to shake hers. Septer stared at his and and shook it thinking about something else so she wouldn't septer.

"Septer," Septer said pulling away from his hand.

"So what's your power? Mine is teleporting," Lot smiled.

"Invisibility," Septer said smiling awkwardly.

"Cool. We have like almost the same thing," Lot said.

"Yeah well I'm gonna go back. Hopefully they aren't, flirting," Septer groaned walking back. Asad nodded and turned to Lot.

"Dude," Asad said waving his hand in front of his face. Lot blinked. "It's not nice to stare," Asad laughed going over to his bed and sitting down.

"Hah, right," Lot said rubbing his hands in his face. He sat on the couch and grabbed the schedule. "It says here we have registration today in an hour," Lot said pointing to the piece of paper.

"Registration, for the classes?" Asad asked.

"Yeah, and looks like there is an intro for this school in ten minutes going on," Lot said casually.

"What?!" Asad said jumping up.

"Yeah and it says, 'Mandatory. Everyone must go,' looks pretty mandatory alright," Lot shrugged.

"Come on then!" Asad said putting on his shoes, grabbing his keys and going out the door.

"Oh! Right now!" Lot said slowly putting on his shoes.

"Well aren't you coming?" Asad asked impatiently.

"I'll meet you there. I can teleport you know," Lot said.

"Right, duh," hitting his hand on his head and rushing down to the main room where the intro would be located. He spotted Derick and Alessia and ran over to them.

"We saved you a seat," Alessia said pointing to the seat next to Derick. Derick rolled his eyes.

"Joy," Derick said. Septer came over and sat next to Alessia smiling. Asad looked at the girls and looked ahead of him at the stage.

"Hello," Lot said scaring Asad.

"Gosh man! Don't freak me out like that!" Asad burst rubbing his head with his hand.

"Hah, I told you I'd show up," Lot said smiling and taking the seat in front of Asad.

"Attention everyone!" The speaker said into the microphone. Everyone quieted down as she tapped the mic. "My name is Mrs. Holliton and this is my school," She said proudly. "I want to introduce my friend to come on stage. She will be the principal for the school, an honor really," Mrs. Hilliton smiled as she motioned the woman onstage. Asad froze. He knew her. It was Kenna!
