Chapter 15-

Suur took a branch in his hand as he held it up to strike at Asad. He looked angry, more than that, furious! Asad got ready to pounce as Suur lunged the branch only to miss Asad by a few inches. Asad pounced at Suur who took off running. So much for furious. Asad thought. They came running around the corner. Voices were echoed and Asad knew that if Kenna saw him as a cougar she would know it was him and then things could go really bad.

Asad stopped chasing after Suur and climbed up a tree that was hovering over them. Suur was still running by the time he had reached the top to look over.

"Cougar?!" Someone yelled running around the corner.

"I-It was here! I swear!" Suur tried to explain. Asad looked around for any ideas on where Leona could be. The most likely place was inside one of the buildings that looked like a good spot to keep anyone. Asad climbed towards the building. The branches were thick, but they seemed to be getting thinner and thinner as the branch extended.

"You're delusional!" The person yelled hitting Suur on the back of the head. Asad reached the branch across from the building and with one swift leap he jumped over. The roof was steep, but still climbable. Asad was about to reach the other side when his paw slipped through a loose shingle in the roof. He gasped trying to pull his paw out. The wood was wearing through his fur and caused blood to come out.

"Leona you say?" Suur said. Asad's ears perked at her name. It was as if she took all the pain away.

"Yes now go on!" The person said violently. Asad struggled to get his paw out and it finally ripped out of the whole. The pain was almost too painful to bear as he lay there looking at it. The sound of a moan was heard from the whole now in the roof. Asad looked into the room to find Leona on a bed. She seemed to be sleeping, but Asad couldn't be sure.

He took off jumping off the roof onto a balcony. He turned to find the door was opened slightly. Walking in, he rushed over to Leona's bedside.

"Leona?" Asad purred. She seemed to smile at him when he spoke, but was still sleeping. "You okay?" He asked still pondering her safety.

"Asad?" She whispered still her eyes closed.

"I'm right here. It's me," Asad said looking at her. She seemed so peaceful, yet she almost seemed awake in a way. Asad heard voices from behind him and turned towards the door. He walked over and peered through the doorway. Footsteps hit the floor like magnets against metal as they came closer and closer. Asad stood his ground. No one was touching Leona.

Suddenly something clinged to his shoulders which made him hit against the ground. He looked up to find a cheetah.

"L-Leona?!" Asad gasped. The cheetah hissed and pounced off of him. The cat seemed woven up, like it was about to strike. She hissed again showing her teeth. She seemed to be only a normal, average cheetah cat. Asad was still shocked and hardly even recognized that Suur and Kenna had walked into the room.

"I guess you have already met Fiona," Kenna smiled.

"Fiona?" Asad asked. He had given up on trying to deceive them into thinking he was a wild cougar. He was just too shocked right now.

"Yes. She was once a part of Leona, but now she is her own cat," Kenna smirked. Thoughts came crashing in on Asad. Without her being a cat she was just, a girl. The part of Leona that was gone was her cheetah and now it was just, a cat? Anger pulsed through Asad like an angry tiger, which he was close relives to, as he began to pounce. He opened his mouth and with one swoop he roared. Not only a scary roar, but a roar he had never heard of himself. It was angry, upset, all the emotions he could feel to say he was furious! Leona was a cat. She was his cat! And now she was but normal. She was the only one who understood him and now, he was alone.

He roared again, but this time he felt so weak. He could hardly muster up any courage to fight back even. One minute he was roaring with anger and the next he was begin pushed around.

"Now you're next," Kenna said. "Good thing you came here too. We were running low on guinea pigs," She laughed. His paw was still bleeding, but less since now it had began to heal on it's own. Kenna left along with Suur and the rest of the group, but the cheetah stayed. "Go get him," Kenna muttered as she left.

Now only the sound of the cheetah's breathing was heard throughout the room. It was like she was a monster now and nothing like Leona anymore. Had they really done this to her? Taken part of her away that was glued to her DNA? Was this the cat that was really part of Leona? Was she still inside her somewhere?

The cheetah pounced making a scratch on his wounded leg. He cringed, but soon dodged her next move. He had to know if this was the cat that was part of Leona once. Maybe if he could snap her out of it and then maybe she would remember him. The cheetah's hair was on end and she looked fed up with a cougar that wouldn't fight back.

"Remember me Leona?" Asad whispered. The cheetah paused for a moment and closed her mouth. She seemed scared that he could talk. Asad began approaching her. "It's Asad," He purred gently. The cheetah backed away scared of his approach. "You may not remember me, but, I surely remember you," He said once more.

Then the cat stopped as Asad was only a foot away. Silence filled the room as the two cats were transfixed on each other. "Leona," Asad said. With one swift knock, Asad was hit onto the ground. She seemed more upset than last time, which seemed impossible. Asad began running. He ran away as fast as he could. He didn't know what made the cat think he was the enemy.

Asad came to the balcony and jumped. In mid air he could see his paw begin to bleed again. When he hit the ground the impact was harsh, but that didn't stop him. He kept running and running away.

"Faster!" He heard someone say. "Attack!" They would yell. He ran towards the bridge and into the forest where he was quiet certain that no one would follow him. But the cheetah was chasing him. She was right on his tail, literally. All her could think of was that a cheetah was way faster than him. Plus his paw was slowing him down. He could hardly feel it anymore.

Then they ran into a river. Asad lunged into it with force as he began trying to swim away. But like he wished wasn't possible, the cheetah still chased after him. He felt his body sink into the water as he gasped his last breathe of air. He was too weak, he was too lost. He was sinking fast and couldn't help but feel nothing.
