School is over and I'm walking with Elena, Jack, and Wendy when I suddenly feel someone hug me from behind. A second later I feel that someone leave a kiss on my cheek.
"Happy second monthsary!" Drake says happily in my ear.
"Two months. Time sure does fly," I say. I turn around while still holding on to his arms and kiss him on the lips.
Drake nods in agreement with a happy smile. "I'll pick you up later?"
"Yup see you!" I shout. I wave as Drake runs and gets on to his motorcycle before zooming away.
I look at my friends. Elena and Wendy both have dreamy expressions, but Jack just looks bewildered. He shakes his head in disbelief. "I know you two have been going out for two months now, but I still can't wrap my head around this kind of Drake."
"Seriously Jack?" I laugh.
No matter how many times Jack has seen me and Drake together, he still seems shocked. Elena and Wendy were too for the first two days but they quickly got over it. Drake and I had been talking a lot more during school. He even ate lunch with us a couple of times. Every time it would attract a lot of attention, but we ignored everyone.
Wendy and Elena have gotten to know him a lot better, and Drake has been opening up. He's not as uptight all the time. Jack has been a little harder to break. I thought the double date with Wendy and us would do the trick but it only seemed to reinforce the fact that Drake is "normal" as he put it, something he couldn't accept.
"I'm sorry!" Jack says with his arms up in surrender. "Maybe give me a couple more months and then I'll be able to fathom it."
"Sure thing." I hug Wendy and Elena and wave goodbye as I get into my car.
"Have fun!" Wendy yells.
"Call me!" Elena shouts with a threatening look.
I just nod with a thumbs up and drive away. Later that night Drake picks me up for our date. We've been going on quite a few of them lately, and they've all been amazing. It's hard to believe we've already been going out for two months.
Everything is going smoothly. We're still getting to know more things about each other and just having fun. Tonight Drake takes me back to Fisherman's Wharf. We just eat and spend a couple hours afterwards walking around and talking hand in hand, blending in perfectly with the other couples. When I first came here I never imagined I would be one of them.
I buy a bag of candy at one of the shops and the two of us sit at a bench as we share it. I laugh as Drake's face contorts after eating a sour strip of gummy candy.
"It's so sour!" Drake exclaims once he finally swallows it. I'm still laughing slightly and Drake glares at me as he offers me the bag. "You try one."
I shrug and place a strip into my mouth. My mouth barely even puckers up. Once it's all gone I smirk confidently at Drake.
"I sure have one tough girlfriend," Drake says. He leans forward and touches his lips to mine in a kiss tasting sour and sweet.
"That's me," I say when we break apart. "I can withstand any level of sourness."
Drake laughs. I don't think I'll ever get used to that sound. "Aria, what do you think of a trip to the bay this weekend? We can go biking and stuff."
"Can we go swimming?" I ask eagerly.
"Only if you want to freeze and potentially get eaten by sharks or drown then sure."
My eyes widen. I guess California beaches don't apply to San Francisco. "Our beaches aren't the most people friendly, but there's still plenty to do."
