EIGHT - A Younger Sister

I woke up.

The clock beside me indicates it's already 7:00 in the morning. Saturday.

I went out of bed and washed my face before going downstairs.

There she is, my Mom who enjoys cooking very much.

My Dad who sets up the table.

My older brother, Changwook, who gets the mails outside.

And me, watching them.

"Son, haven't I told you not to wear that sweater? I need to replace the missing button for that," she said sweetly.

"It's okay, Mom," I replied.

"I wonder why the buttons of your clothes are always missing. Even your school uniform's. Did you give it to Shin again?"

"My school uniform?" I wondered. "No. I didn't."

"Maybe some other girl got that," Changwook-hyung chided. "Ya, Min Yoongi. I only like Shin for you okay?"

"Why don't you court her if you like her?" I queried. Jeez, the only name they can mention in this house is Shin, Shin, Shin. Can't we move on from now on?

"Ya! Why you sound angry? Don't you like her?"

"Shin is just a younger sister to me," I answered and walked out of the kitchen. "Aside from that, she's not pretty."

"Ah, this guy," my annoying brother whispered.

I went outside, closed my eyes and tried to breathe some fresh air.

I'm so bored. What should I do?

I noticed my brother's motorbike and approached it. I checked if it functions well. Apparently, it is, so I drove down to the Hardware next to the sari-sari store where I used to buy churros when I was younger.

"Good morning, Sir. What can I do for you?" the lady asked.

I was surprised to the bone. She... she looks familiar.

"G-good morning," I greeted back. "Uh, may I ask where I could see the doorknobs you have?"

She smiled. "This way, Sir."

As I follow her leading the way, I'm still thinking where I possibly met her.

I asked her instead.

"Miss, did we meet before?"

"Didn't we? You look familiar to me, too" she queried back. "I wonder ..."

"Oppa..." someone said and there, I saw Shin.
