~Blood Spilled At The Safe House~

Kennedy

It had been a long night, taking care of a baby wasn't easy. My brother was still technically a infant so I never had to take care of him up to his death and I was never around anyone who had kids when I was younger.

It was currently daytime which meant zombies would be locked up while the vampires went into their hibernation mode. I felt tired, being a vampire did have similar effects but since zombie blood ran through my veins it felt like more of a incurable hangover more than anything. I usually stayed inside and laid around, but there was no way I was keeping an infant in the apocalypse. Sooner or later somebody would find out of it existence and it'd get me discovered along with the infant killed. The vampires were trying to avoid human domination which meant that the less humans that existed the easier it was to stay in power and stay comfortable in their new world.

Nobody knew how they came into power, and nobody knew how they managed to enslave the zombies so they would obey every command. Zombies were rash, strong, dead of course and if died correctly fast. Yet the looked like humans, except for the rotting flesh and purple glowing eyes. They looked more like Halloween actors you hire for your haunted house, but vivid and could smash your skull in with a single grab.

I got everything ready and wrapped the baby in a rag that smelled like trash but it hid the smell of blood and well that nice sweet smell babies had. I quickly left bolting my door and covering it with the wooden plank with one had, it was hard not using my strength allot but holding a baby you didn't want to squish into goop did that. I used my speed slightly, not too fast so I would wind the new born.

I had contemplated were I should take the child, it was hard. I decided to go south instead since the royals would be hibernating close to where they held the meeting which was near the north area, I knew exactly where they were last night and I planned to avoid it all cost.

I continued to speed, I really wanted to get there and home so I could rest. The sun was causing my skin to break out, red patchy spots scattered on my skin from the rays. I felt my head throb, and my body felt like it was on fire but I kept moving making sure the infant kept cool and warm from the temperatures that could get it sick.

I knew a safe house was in the mountains there was no way any vampires could get inside as it was a indoor cave with a steal door. It was hidden behind a water fall, and you had to be very smart to see the walk way. I knew about it from scouting, I knew about at least 7 safe houses in the city and not many knew about my existence including this one.

I sighed resting my head against a rock, I felt powerless. I was kind of dragging my feet, I managed to get behind the water fall and slammed my fist on the door twice before I heard a click of a gun from above me.

"Who the hell are you?" A woman asked, I sighed to tired to even move.

"Kennedy, I have a human infant with me." I said, I felt dizzy and lightheaded because of the sun.
