I stare down Azura from across the yard.
This was my opportunity to take the title of Ultimate Guardian. I never wanted this substitute of Bounty Hunter. I live to be a Guardian. I trained my entire life for it.
It's my purpose in life.
I always used the excuse of this being the work of Fate. Recently though... I've been having thoughts. Is Fate... truly a reasoning? An invisible force controlling the strings of lives? I don't know anymore. My emotions were boiling and exploded.
I can't take it anymore.
I charge at Azura with my katana and he jumps over it.
...But he doesn't counter
I swing at him again
...No counterattack.
"Fight, dammit!" I scream at him and swing again. He dodges and kicks my wrist forcing to drop my blade. He kicks it away and I glare at him.
"If we're fighting with stakes like this then no weapons." He threw his katana that he never unsheathed to Sena who caught it.
"Two Raijins. Fist to fist." He says with a scary tone.
"You're not a real Raijin." I bite back at him.
He just closes his red eye and smirks "I definetly feel like one."
He charges and I throw a kick. He deflects it with an arm and pushes me back with a palm. I catch myself before he could attack again and he dodges my flurry of attacks.
I can't land a hit on him. And he hasn't even landed a blow on me. Just pushes and trips. Was he mocking me? Teasing me?!
"Stop it and fight me, dammit! Stop toying with me!!" I was getting frustrated. Azura didn't respond. I throw another attack and dodges again.
Then I hear the whisper
"If you want..." He had a small smile.
Then pain.
My gut felt like it was on fire.
Azura had buried his heel right into my gut. I lose air for a moment as it rushed out of my lungs and I gasp. Azura had backed away and was waiting. Was he waiting for me to get up?
"Come on. I thought you were a true Raijin! Or was all the training you went through just some weak ass bullshit?" I hear Azura spit out at me.
My eyes flared to life. I scream and run at him.
*SLAP!*
A slap echoed through the air.
He slapped me.
I just stand there surprised. I stare into his eyes. He looked serious.
"You've been acting like a child who didn't get their way." He sighs. His expression softens a bit "Yin. This. This is why. For years you gave the excuse of saying Fate is the reason. When you heard you weren't Guardian you didn't try to change anything. You just thought this is what Fate had planned out for you." He puts his hands on my shoulders "You can change your Fate, Yin. You can change Fate... and lead your life to a new bright and shining future." He smiles.
"Build your own Destiny." He says softly.
Destiny...
We stand there in silence for minutes. The sound of the wind howling. Time passed until I finally spoke up.
"...I want to try this again... please." I look up at him. He smiles and nods letting go of me.
We took our original places "I won't toy with you. I'll admit I may of gotten a bit harsh but I needed to make you lose control so you could exhaust yourself." He smiles "I won't hold back though! No complaining if you lose. This isn't about being a Guardian. It's not about the Raijin name. Me and You. That's all."
Azura Otonashi... I...
...I accept you.
---------------------------------------------------------
Pants fill the air. Heavy breathing.Azura leans against the wall and takes deep and slow breaths "Gotta admit... you kept up well." He smirks.
I lay on the ground. I was defeated but... It felt good.
I smile before breaking out into laughter.
"Ahahahahahaha!" My voice echoes.
"Yin is... laughing?" Yashiro said shocked "Huh. Didn't know she could do that. Or did she finally snap? Do we gotta put her in the crazy crib?" He crosses his arms and bends a bit forward inspecting me.
Azura approaches Yashiro and whispers something to him. He blinks and nods.
The others head back inside except for Yashiro. He walked over to where I layed.
"Welp..." He flopped over and landed next to me, almost in a similar position as me. "The mighty Yin has fallen!" He says in a dramatic voice "So... what now?" He turns his head to look at me "You gonna be joining us and Azura's gang of killers... partner?" He smiles softly.
I just smile "Shut it, goofball." I turn and look back. "...He's right. Fate... It can change. I... I can make my own destiny. My own path... so yeah. I'll tag along with all of you."
He nods and was about to get up before I spoke again "Besides... I can't leave you alone can I? You need someone to keep you from doing something stupid... right?" I smile wide, happy as can be.
"...Partner?"
