Chapter 19 : Bain

Adrianna POV

I walked towards where I could hear the laughter of the dwarfs.
I had retrieved my violin , and now held it close to my chest.
I smelt the appealing aroma of meat as it traveled though the air, making me quicken my steps. As I reached them , my ears twitched and listened.
The dwarves were having a late night party in the gardens. The were roasting sausages over a fire made of burning elvish furniture! They sat around the roaring fire on benches , one of which a heavy Bombur sat alone with a great pile of food. A thoughtful look came across bofur's face as he looked from Bombur to his own meat then back again

"Bombur!" Bofur shouted .

As Bombur looked up , Bofur launched a sausage at him. Bombur caught it , but the added weight of the small sausage was too much for the bench. The poor furniture creaked then broke , dropping a shrieking Bombur , along with all his food , to the floor.
The dwarfs fell about laughing uproariously , as Bombur struggled to regain his feet.
I laugh quietly at the large dwarf , then walked forward to help him reclaim his footing.

" Are you alright lass?" Bofur asked kindly "- when ya left us in the food hall ya seemed a wee bit distressed ".
I smiled slightly as I hauled Bombur to his feet.

" I'm fine bofur , thank you for asking. I apologise if I startled any of you , I did not intend on doing so." I murmured , sitting down beside Ori.

"Don't worry 'bout it lass , were just glad your okay " bofur smiled ,letting his dimples show. I smiled back , then decided to change the subject.

" I see you have been hunting , any left?" I asked hopefully.
Bofur chuckled , before handing me a bowl filled with cooked meat.

"Of course lass , we wouldn't leave you out now would we ?!" He says, laughing with the others. I accept the bowl with a nod of thanks and begin slowly eating the roasted meat.
I look round and notice some of our company was missing.
Kili noticed my look and smiled.

"Our uncle is not here lass , he and Balin went to see about the map" kili said with a cheeky smile . I nodded slowly and turned my attention back to my meal , hiding my slightly pink cheeks. Soon after that , Thorin , bilbo and Balin returned , shortly followed by Gandalf.

"What news of the map ay?" Dwalin asked , crossing his arms"-could he read it?"
Thorin nodded , and the dwarfs murmured excitedly.

"Well -" fili spoke up "What does it say ,uncle?'
Thorin smiled at their eagerness , and sat down with the others.
Gandalf sat a few paces off , smoking his pipe thoughtfully.

" Aye , the elf could read it , and it held the answer we needed." Balin began , handing Bilbo and Thorin there share of meat that had been saved from Bombur and myself.

"It said : Stand by the gray stone when the thrush knocks, and the setting sun with the last light of Durin's Day will shine upon the keyhole." Thorin said , looking around at his fellow dwarfs. His gaze stayed on me for a few moments , as if checking to see if I was alright. I nodded slightly to confirm I was.

" Durins day?! That will be soon upon us , we must move if we are to reach Erebor in time!" Dori yelped , standing as if he was about to do just that.

" Aye , but there is a problem. In revealing the maps message , Elrond discovered our plan. He knows of our quest to reclaim our homeland. If we are to carry on , we must do so with a great deal of stealth." Thorin murmured , a frown coming upon his features.

" Do not fear , we still have time. But I agree , we must leave soon." Balin said , tucking into his meal.

" I believe , I can help you there. Tomorrow at mid-day , the white council shall hold a meeting-" Gandalf began , puffing of his pipe "- when it is taking place , you shall lead your company into the mountains. Wait for me there , I will find you" Thorin nodded , glad that their quest would continue.
