Adrianna POV
We had reached the lonely mountain, and were now searching relentlessly for the hidden door. Thorin and the other dwarves were becoming more and more frustrated with every second that went by, bringing down the sun. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't nervous too, what if we don't find the door.
" Anything?" Thorin shouted, desperation leaking to to his voice.
"Nothing!" Dwalin growled back, openly angered and worried. I looked up as I heard a quiet hissing sound, accompanied with a sound that resembled falling metal. My attention was drawn back to Thorin, who was looking intently at the map.
" If the map is true, the hidden door lies directly above us."
I frowned as a light laughing drew my attention upwards. There, sat on the first outcropping of a massive carving of the previous king, was Bain. Bain beckoned frantically, before climbing up further, looking back at me. I was surprised to see he didn't look like a bag of bones, he looked young, and healthy. In a way, that made it worse. It was as if he could be there, standing a few meters away, unharmed. I shook away the thoughts and started forward. I was about to voice my find, when bilbo found it also.
"Up here!" Bilbo cried, pointing at the humongous cravings the side of the mountain.
"You have keen eyes, Master Baggins." Complimented Thorin, whilst the others gave him firm pats on the back. I sent bilbo a kind smile, before leaping up onto the first outcropping that Bain had been seated of previously. I was closely followed by the others. I climbed, following Bain until I reached the top, where I could see the wall of the mountain.
" This must be it-" whispered Thorin behind me, "-The hidden door."
I glanced back at him, smileing when I saw the look of awe and happiness there. Yet something darker lingered, just beneath the surface. Thorin turned so he was facing the company. Was standing at the very edge of the cliff like edge of where we stood, making me extremely nervous.
" Let all those who doubted us, rue this day!" Thorin bellowed, his voice echoing across the mountain. I flinched as I heard another hiss from deep within the mountain...what was that? I watched as Thorin held up the key, earning a loud cheer from the dwarves.
"Hey, we have a key. " Dwalin laughs, starting forward and touching the wall. My eyes flicker behind him, where Bain sat smugly on a boulder.
" Which means there's somewhere there is a keyhole."
I looked back at Bain, something lurking at the edge of my mind, yet I couldn't grasp it. I looked at the sun, noting that it was about to set. This was it.
" The last light of Durin's Day...will shine upon the keyhole." Thorn mumbled to himself, looking down at the key in his hand. I watched him as I saw conflict in his eyes as he looked over to the suns light shinning of the mountain side. No one had found the keyhole yet...
" Nori." Thorin snapped, his voice gaining a hopeless sound. I watched from afar as Nori approached the wall, his keen eyes surveying the wall nefore he put a glass against its surface.
" We're losing the light. Come on!" Thorin snapped, panic obvious in his voice. I stood up for the boulder as dwalin began thumping his leg against the wall angrily.
" Be quiet. I can't hear when you're thumping!" Nori snapped, scowling at Dwalin.
" I can't find it. It's not here! It's not here!" Dwalin cried, panicking the other dwarves. I felt a tug on my sleeve, making me look down at Bain looking up at me. He turned and pointed at the sun, smiling. My eyes widened as I saw it was nearly gone.
