Losing Myself for a Lost Boy
You told me to listen
to your upbeat songs
with downfall lyrics.I heard about pastel promises
from you,
and how they ended up
to brokenness. You told me to read your
poetry and prose,
and how those words
hide thousands of
sleepless nights and rainy days.I read about waves
carrying a lost memory
back to the ends of the ocean
until it becomes forgotten.I read about stars
shining but heavy;
full of unmet wishes
and tragedy.I read about your pain
going depths
going further,
into your chest. And then I saw you standing there.
I felt wildfire of heartbeats
slowly, beautifully
suffocating me.I saw you coming closer and closer
but I knew, this illusion
won't come too far.I saw our hands
intertwined,
but you're slowly
holding back.I saw our eyes
meeting,
but our hearts
taking cross roads.I see myself running away
and going back to you.I see you as a lost person
losing himself several times.
In finding someone else,
and in finding answers. And that's the point
where I realized
that I'm also
losing myself
for a lost boy.
