Ryder and Kyndall rode over to their dads' office. After saying hi to Mr. Rosewood, they went to Mr. Davenport's office. Ryder knocked before he walked in. Mr. Davenport was looking over some papers on his desk. He looked up when Kyndall and his son walked in. Mr. Davenport was more on the chubbier side. He had a full face with a small beard and mustache with small square glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose as he looked over some papers. He took off his glasses and smiled. Moving around the desk, he held his hand out to Kyndall. Kyndall looked down at her arm. Mr. Davenport blushed and shook her good hand with his other hand.
"I'm sorry. Kyndall it's nice to finally meet you. Between your father and my son, I have heard a lot about you," he smiled. Kyndall blushed and looked over to Ryder who was also blushing slightly as he looked at his feet. Kyndall smiled at Ryder's dad.
"It's nice to finally meet you too Mr. Davenport," she said. He smiled.
"Please, call me John," he said. John walked over to his desk and reached under it. He pulled out two popsicles and handed them to Ryder. "So I heard you had a rough first day," John said, making conversation. Kyndall looked down at her arm before she shrugged.
"It wasn't that bad, except for the falling and hurting my arm part," she laughed quietly. John looked at her curiously.
"You don't have to pretend with me; Ryder already told me what really happened," John said. Kyndall looked at Ryder shocked. Ryder shrugged.
"I had to tell someone; it was killing me," Ryder explained softly. Kyndall understood. If she was in his position, she probably would have done the same thing.
"It's okay; I understand," she said softly. She sighed and nodded to John.
"It's no big deal. What's done is done, and it should heal in a few weeks," Kyndall shrugged. John smiled at her.
"You have a great attitude Kyndall. I hope to be seeing more of you soon," John smiled proudly. "The conference room is open for homework Ryder." John said to his son. Kyndall smiled back before she followed Ryder out of the office. Ryder closed the doors behind them. They sat on the only couch provided as Ryder set their backpacks down. He unwrapped one of the popsicles and held it out for her. She smiled and took a bite out of it.
"Sorry for not asking you first before I told him but it was kind of late and I needed to tell someone. It felt like Brett was getting away with hurting you," Ryder apologized. Kyndall smiled as she took another bite.
"It's okay; I understand," she repeated again. She laid her head in his lap and opened her mouth for another bite of the popsicle. Ryder laughed and put it close enough for her to bite.
"What homework do you have today?" Ryder asked. Kyndall thought for a second and bit the popsicle again.
"Science, math, and history," she answered. He looked at the backpacks and leaned his head against the couch for a second.
"I hate homework," he sighed. Kyndall giggled and agreed. He fed her the rest of the popsicle before he ate his. When he couldn't stall anymore, they got their work out. Kyndall tried to write herself, but it was difficult. Ryder laughed and took the pen from her.
"I can do it," Kyndall pouted. He smiled and wrote for her anyway. She sighed and relaxed against the couch.
"No need. I got it," he smiled. When both of their homework was done, Ryder turned on the television that was in front of the couch. He went to the small fridge in the corner of the room and got them both sodas. After a few peaceful minutes of watching a show, Ryder turned to Kyndall. He gathered his courage and smiled nervously.
