The next morning, Kyndall woke up and looked around her room confused. Looking at the clock, she realized she overslept. Looking at Ryder she realized he had slept over. Sighing, she plopped back down on her pillow. Ryder stirred, putting an arm around her. Smiling, she kissed his forehead.
"Wake up baby," she whispered. His eyes fluttered open and he smiled lazily. He kissed her gently.
"Can I wake up like that every morning?" he smiled. She laughed softly and shook her head.
"Not unless you want to get in trouble. Your parents are probably wondering where you are. Crap, my parents are probably wondering why I didn't get up this morning. Oh well," Kyndall whispered. Ryder chuckled lightly and pulled her into him. Her hazy mind slowly started remembering what had happened last night; nothing extreme, just a wild make out session. Giggling, she sat up. "We do have to go to school though," she said, standing. He sighed and closed his eyes.
"Do we have to?" he asked. Kyndall laughed and nodded, going over to her drawers.
"Yes, so you should probably go home to change and I'm going to take a shower, and I'll see you at school," Kyndall smiled. She walked into her bathroom and started the shower. Ryder relaxed in the bed with his eyes closed and a small smile on his lips until he felt a pillow hit him. Laughing Kyndall moved out of reach at the pillow that was thrown back at her. Ryder got out of the bed and kissed Kyndall quickly. Smiling, she wrapped her arms around him.
"I guess I'll see you afterschool then. Maybe we can go to the stables. My new saddle just came in the other day and I miss Jasper," Kyndall said. He glanced at her cast before he nodded.
"Whatever you want to do," he smiled. "I'll see you later," he kissed her one last time before leaving the comfort of her room. Ryder managed to sneak out undetected. His house was more or less walking distance, so he walked until he reached his doorstep. He quietly walked in and closed the door behind him. He tip-toed halfway up the stairs before a voice stopped him.
"And where have you been all night?" his mom asked. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath before turning towards his mother.
"Out," he answered vaguely. He could see the irritation clear on his mother's face. "I was with Kyndall," he said quietly.
"All night; you spent the night at her house?" him mother yelled. Ryder's cheeks flushed with anger.
"Yes! And we had a good time. Why are you always on my back about my girlfriend?" he yelled back.
"Because she's not right for you!" his mother snapped.
"Why are you always trying to keep me away from her? Why can't you just accept us and stop giving me crap about her?" he yelled, taking a step down the stairs towards her.
"Because she's not our kind!" his mother snapped. Ryder let out a breath and looked at her shocked. Shaking his head, he looked away from her.
"Unbelievable. I can't believe you just said that," he said quietly. He went up the stairs to his room and got ready before heading back down the stairs.
"Dylan, I didn't mean it like that," Sarah tried to explain. She touched his arm gently. He shook her off and continued walking towards the door.
"I don't want to hear it," he muttered before he slammed the door behind him. His mom cringed before going to sit on the couch. Ryder rode in silence all the way to school. He ended up getting there at the same time as Kyndall. Smiling, Kyndall kissed him lightly. Ryder's mood didn't change from his argument. He still looked mad. Kyndall immediately caught on.
"What's wrong?" she asked frowning. Shaking his head, he sighed.
"I found out why my mom doesn't like you," he said. Kyndall looked at him curiously and waited. "She's being racist," he said. Kyndall looked at him shocked. Of all the possibilities of why Ryder's mom didn't like her, that one never crossed her mind.
"You've got to be kidding me," she breathed. He shook his head.
"I wish I were," he replied quietly. Kyndall sighed and ran her fingers through her hair.
"Unbelievable," Kyndall breathed. After shaking her head softly, she gave his a quick hug and kiss. "Well, I've got to get to class. I'll see you later, I think," Kyndall said before disappearing into the school.
I spy with my Hawk eye, Dark Beauty and Prince charming sneaking into school late. What could have kept them from their duties as students; their new duties as lovers possibly? And still no sign of our Queen B. An insider told me what has our Queen B at bay, but I'm not leaking this one. I will leak that Dark Beauty packs a mean punch when friends are messed with. Dark Beauty was seen storming into the boys' locker room and beating up Austin Dawson on Queen B's behalf. We have truly seen a friendship blossom. Will things keep up this way? And what was Dark Beauty and Prince Charming doing that made them so late to school this morning? Will answers finally appear for everyone to see? Only time will tell, Hawk.
Kyndall walked into her class and all eyes were instantly on her. Everyone had already read the Hawk Watch post and so had she. She was already expecting it. She kept her face emotionless and sat down quietly. The teacher cleared her throat before she continued on with her lesson. Once the bell rang, Mallory rushed to catch up with Kyndall.
"Did you see the new Hawk Watch post?" Mallory asked. Kyndall laughed once humorlessly and nodded.
"Yes, I did, yes, I punched Austin because of what he did to Brett, and yes I was late this morning because I was with Ryder. Any more questions?" Kyndall said in a rush. Mallory froze in her steps and gaped after Kyndall. Kyndall walked emotionlessly to her next class. Kyndall slid into her chair quietly and waited for the class to start.
Ryder slipped into his seat quietly as all eyes were on him. Oscar tapped his shoulder.
"Dude, you and your girl are all over Hawk's blog," Oscar said quietly. Ryder's lip pulled up in the corner and he nodded.
"What's your point?" Ryder asked. He read the post already and laughed at it. Hawk didn't miss a beat, did she? Oscar chuckled and shook his head.
"So where were you today?" Oscar smirked at him knowingly. Ryder smiled remembering his gentle wake up this morning. He remembered lounging in her bed with her, her warm lips on his, the smooth curve of her hips under his hands. He shook his head of the memories and smiled lightly.
"Home," he smiled lightly. Oscar looked at Ryder knowingly. Oscar raised an eyebrow at him and smiled.
"Whose home?" Oscar asked. Ryder looked at him before he thought about the simple question with the double meaning. Ryder had understood completely. He knew he was close to Kyndall; maybe even closer than he knew at the moment. She had opened up to him; something she thought she would never do with a guy as long as she lived, but he was comfortable to be around. She fell, and she couldn't help it. Ryder fell a long time ago, and he knew it, but he just now embraced it.
