Ryder got home on cloud nine. He had never felt that way when he kissed anyone. Kissing Kyndall felt meaningful, right, and full of passion and trust. He was glad he and Brett were done. He had more time to hang out with Kyndall, and he planned on doing that a lot.

Brett sat at her family's dining table. Her mom and dad were eating their food quietly. Brett played with her food. Her mom glanced up at Brett. Her dad didn't tale his eyes off of his food.

"Brett, eat your food," her mom said. She set her fork down and put her head on her hand.

"I'm not hungry," she mumbled. Her father looked up now.

"You haven't been hungry for the past two days. What's going on?" he asked. She sighed and looked at the table for a second. She had to get it out of his system. Keeping all of it cooped up was going to make her explode.

"Ryder and I broke up," she started. Her parents both stopped eating and looked at her.

"Why?" they almost said simultaneously. She sighed again. Her mother took a drink of her wine.

"He got mad at me because I got jealous and cut the stirrups of the new girl's saddle. She fell and broke her arm. Then I lied about apologizing to her," she explained with a straight face. Her mom sputtered on her wine. Both of her parents looked at her shocked.

"The new girl? Would she happen to be the daughter of Thomas and Beth Rosewood?" her dad asked. Brett shrugged and nodded. Her mother breathed in disbelief. She used to go shopping with Beth all the time. Kyndall used to model for a lot of the major brands.

"They're our friends Brett. Why would you purposely hurt her? I would understand it if you were just jealous, but you don't kill someone because they kicked your dog," her mom said. Brett shrugged.

"She didn't sue?" her father asked. Brett rolled her eyes and sighed.

"No, she's too nice for that. I didn't even apologize and she forgave me. She said it was pointless to fight and that what's done is done, and she'll heal eventually. She blew it off as no big deal," Brett explained. Her parents looked at each other then back to Brett.

"She's the person that you need to try to be friends with Brett. She would be your true friend, unlike those fake ones you surround yourself with. She sounds like a great person. Why don't you invite her to dinner here with us? You might like her," her mom suggested. Brett sighed before she nodded.

"I'll ask her tomorrow," Brett mumbled. She took a bite of her vegetables and bread. She didn't want to admit it, but her parents were right. If she was friends with Kyndall, she wouldn't have to be constantly watching her back for backstabbers, but that felt like giving up. She would do it anyway. Who knows, maybe she'll like Kyndall a lot more than she'll lead herself to believe.

The next morning, Ryder was waiting for Kyndall in front of Remington's. He smiled when he saw her. Kyndall had her hair pulled up in a ponytail and her bangs reached a little past her eyebrows. She smiled at Ryder and hugged him quickly. He tried to kiss her but she stopped him and put a finger on his lips. He looked at her curiously.

"Not yet; you just broke up with Brett and I'm pretty sure she's not over you. Let's wait a little while," she said quietly. She put her hand down and moved back from him a bit. He smiled softly and nodded.

"Your kindness is going to kill you," he shook his head. "I still don't see how you're even caring about Brett's feeling when she hurt you. I don't." He said. Kyndall shrugged and smiled. They walked into the courtyard together. Brett glanced at them and cringed at seeing Ryder with someone else, but she wasn't going to start anything... not today. She left the Barbies and walked over to Kyndall.
