Supernovas are horrible. It's really the same thing at a black hole, except it doesn't suck you in. But the waves are just as bad, if not harder hitting. There's nothing I can do but wait until the waves push us far enough away. That's why I didn't have the crew tie the sails down.

I tried my best to keep my eyes on the star, but I heard Saytee yell, and it distracted me. I watched as she fell and hit the edge. I should have helped her, I should have ran to her. But I had to keep control of the ship.

I still hadn't looked ahead, and I didn't see the next wave coming (something I think Saytee suffered as well...).

The wave seemed like it hit us, then stopped on us somehow, holding a cloud of red dust over us, and leaving ringing in my ear.

I felt the whole ship rock, then from the corner of my eye, I saw Saytee go barreling over the rails of the boat...

I lost my mind and all consciousness of the whole situation. Letting go of the wheel, I ran to her and grabbed hold of the lifeline, tugging her back up. "Saytee!" I yelled. She was out cold...at least, I think only out cold.

I dropped to the deck, laying her across my lap. I raised her head. "Saytee, come on, wake up!" I begged.

Suddenly the whole atmosphere changed. Any red dust and bright light disappeared, replaced by the plain space sky. I looked up only for a split second, quickly returning my gaze to Saytee.

With everything over, I untied our lines and went below deck, where the crew usually sleeps. My room was a little torn apart.

I laid with her in one of the hammocks, waiting for her to wake up.
