I got off the ground quickly, watching as the boat got further and further away. I paced, hearing Saytee yelling. I tried to think over the anxiety.
I covered my eyes with a shaky hand. I couldn't do it, I couldn't keep it together. I fell to my knees and punched the floor several times to release the anger.
I let her go, she slipped right through my fingers.
But I couldn't ponder on it too long. Saytee was out there, and she needed help. I replaced my terror and self pity with pure rage. I stood up and turned to go back on deck, ready to shout orders at the crew.
But out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shimmer in the midst of the ropes on the ground. I leaned down and uncovered the shiny object.
Saytee's necklace! This is exactly what we need! This tiny bit of sun will help us catch up to her!
