Jim
My first instinct was to run after them. But when I tried, I was being held back. I looked, it was that nurse. "What has gotten into you, kid? She don't belong to you." She told me. Sounds pretty pro-slavery to me.
I tugged away and she called after the men. They ignored me, obviously. The way they were treating Saytee infuriated me. They just dragged her, probably not caring even if she died on the way out of the building.
Without warning, two other people came in through the doors the men were going out of. They bumped the two, dropping Saytee. I dove for the floor to reclaim her.
She was red, hot, shiny with sweat, and her eyes were swollen shut. If she hadn't have been wheezing, struggling for air, I wouldn't have thought she was actually alive.
As I looked back up, I realized who the two people who came in the door were. Delbert and Amelia! I was shocked to see them, and they looked at the same way.
They spoke over each other, but I could tell what they were both saying. "Jim, what are you doing here?" Delbert asked. "What seems to be the matter here?" Amelia asked harshly at the men.
The men looked furious, and did a bad job at hiding it. "If you don't mind, we are trying to take our sick daughter back home!" One of them roared, and they grabbed Saytee. I didn't let her go, but instead hit the men away.
Amelia casually blocked the men's path and pointed vaguely at Saytee. She cleared her throat before speaking. "Delbert, darling, isn't that the girl from the description?" She wondered.
The men looked nervous. They're lie didn't work this time. Delbert leaned down to look at Saytee, and he whispered to me while Amelia scolded the men for lying, using her cleverly rude remarks.
"Slaveowners." I quickly explained. Delbert nodded, having seen these cases before. He stood up and reproached the men.
That shut them up and got them out of our hair pretty quick, having a famous captain and doctor telling them off. They left, losing a lot of their dignity. But I suspected it wouldn't be the last we saw of them.

Amelia and Delbert helped me then take Saytee back to her room, and Delbert gave her a checkup and some medicine. Meanwhile, I was still confused to why they were here to begin with.
So I asked Amelia. "Oh, Delbert had received word of a strange illness here in the spaceport." She paused and sighed. "He seemed to have known much about the disorder, and we got here as fast as we could."
I'd forgotten that Delbert was an actual doctor now. He'd made lots of comments before that being a science doctor wasn't the same thing as the kind who helps people, and he decided to change his whole career, and thank god he did.
I saw Amelia was watching me from my peripheral vision, I hadn't taken my eyes off Saytee, though. "So what about it, Jim? What is she to you?" She asked, as if she knew the answer.
I just glanced at her as I summed up the story, explaining how Saytee and I met, and that she had been a slave. I left out a lot of the in-between parts of the voyage, though...
*^*^*^*
(I am so sorry if these last few chapters have been boring you! They're kind of boring me, too. But I'm having a serious case of writers block with any more action scenes and stuff...)
