Chapter 19

Saytee

BEN was still going berserk. He ran all around Jim and I, throwing tantrums about how the cyborg knew we were coming...and how creepy it was.

Not that I didn't agree with BEN, but he really needed to shut up. We were getting so close to the island dock that everyone started staring at BEN. We've only been here twenty minutes and he's already offending people.

"-AND WE'RE ALL GONNA-" He would have finished his sentence, but I jumped at him and snapped his mouth shut. "BEN, stop it. You have to be nice to them, they're helping us." I whisper scolded. He just nodded, and I let go, trusting he'd keep quiet now.

Jim was behind me, laughing at me. I turned to face him. "Hey, it's not funny. He's so annoying." I said as I pretended to strangle BEN in mid air. Jim kept his smile, and I leaned against the rails next to him.

"You're ready to get answers, huh?" I asked. He looked at me, his smile kind of faded. "After five years, yeah, I guess it would be nice to have some closure." He moved closer to me, facing the same direction. I watched as his eyes became more intense on me.

I couldn't help but blush, and I pushed on his shoulder. "Don't look at me like that." I teased. He laughed and looked down again, straightening his posture when he saw some were staring at us.

I straightened up too as the crew started cheering and getting off the ship, greeting the people below.

Jim took my hand and kissed the side of my head. "Ready?" He asked. I looked up and grinned. "As I'll ever be." I replied.

This is a beautiful place. As you go further in, there's a big lake right in the center of the main village. Some of the residents don't speak any English, but they're hospitable otherwise. What was BEN talking about when he said this place was dangerous?

Jim and I didn't spend the whole day together. He had to go off with that cyborg to negotiate, plus he wanted to know more about Silver.

His absence didn't stop me from having a good day, though. I made a lot of friends. For some reason, the children here took very easily to me. They showed me around, and yes, I had to join in with their little childish games they played throughout the day.

BEN didn't stick with me either. In fact, he stayed tied to the ship. I actually have a plan to get him off, later.

But Morph joined, and was having the time of his life as far as I could tell. Everybody was happy here.
