El and Mike's 10 year anniversary landed on a rainy Saturday. They were both fresh out of college and with the help of their families had just bought a small house just outside of Hawkins. Despite not living there anymore, they still went back to Hawkins for all their anniversaries, it being the place were they met and holding a special significance to the both of them.

After having gone to dinner, they arrived back at the Wheeler family home, they were staying there that night. It wasn't storming, but the weather outside was pretty ferocious. It was almost 12 o'clock when Mike grabbed El's hand and practically dragged her out of the house and into his car. "Mike what the hell are you doing? Its pouring out there!" she exclaimed as he drove off, not giving her any clues as to where they were headed.

About 5 minutes later Mike stopped the car on the side of a road and got out, beckoning for El to join him. He still hadn't spoken a word, causing El to be more and more confused. He grabbed her hand and led her into the forest that was beside the road. "Mike what the hell are you doing? If you're leading me out here to kill me I will dump you so hard" she exclaimed. He just chuckled and led her further.

Mike stopped abruptly and grabbed both of El's hands, staring into her eyes, water dripping off his hair and eyelashes. "Do you know where we are?" he asked, a smirk on his face. "We're in the middle of nowhere Mike. So no, I do not" He chuckled at her response. "Believe it or not, this is a very special place" He exclaimed, stepping back. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a torch, turning it on and shining it at her. It all clicked for El and she was brought back to almost eleven years ago when the boys found her, cold and alone. Even through the rain, Mike could see her beaming at him. She ran over and hugged him fiercely. He pulled back and kissed her, in the rain, in the spot where they first met. He then led her over to a nearby tree and pointed to the letters E+M that they had engraved into it, the summer of 9th grade. She smiled and hugged him again.

After standing in their spot for about 15 minutes, the pair headed back to the Wheeler's. They settled themselves in Mike's childhood room, falling asleep in one another's arms, knowing this has been the best 10 years of their lives. The next morning they both woke up with severe colds, and were treated with hot soup from Karen, who was happy to have two of her favourite people back in her home, for a couple days at least.
