"I cannot believe you Mike!" El yelled, crossing her arms and turning around to face him as he slammed the basement door. "You can't just yell at people like that! Especially in public! He's my friend and now he thinks my boyfriend is a crazy person!" El yelled again, moving her hands animatedly. "He obviously likes you and you can't see it! I was just protecting you from being friends with an absolute idiot!" Mike protested, walking over to her and trying to grab her hands. She pulled away and stomped over to the other side of the basement. "Shut up Mike okay?! Just shut up! You have no idea what you're talking about! And how dare you call one of my best friends an idiot!" El screamed at him, absolutely furious. "Well sorry, for protecting my girlfriend from some guy that wants a little more than friendship!" Mike retorted. "You know what Mike? Until you realise that YOU'RE the idiot, don't talk to me!" El yelled, grabbing her bag and running over to the door, throwing her promise ring at him before slamming the door behind her. Mike picked up the ring and closed his palm around it, sinking into a chair and burying his face in his hands.
It had been almost a week and Mike and El hadn't spoken to each other. They were both so stubborn and refused to let it go, both believing the other was in the wrong. Lucas, Will, Dustin and Max were sick of it, they hated to see a stupid fight ruin what Mike and El had with each other. No matter how much they hated how sickeningly cutesy they were together, they hated this way more. They sat around their usual lunch table. Mike had been spending his lunchtimes in the AV Club and El had been in the library. Max and Will had just come from gym, where they had been devising a plan. "Okay guys. So obviously Mike is jealous that El is close friends with Thomas. I wish SOMEONE would tell him that he's dating Stacy so he could drop it!" Lucas exclaimed as he started to eat his sandwich. "We have a plan!" Will announced, gesturing to him and Max. "Tell us! I'm so sick of the fighting! And I haven't made fun of their PDA in a week! I'm having withdrawal symptoms!" Dustin proclaimed, dramatically fanning himself. Max rolled her eyes at him before saying "Here's the plan. We all go over to mine. I invite El over, and Lucas invites Mike. We both tell them that the other won't be there and that we just wanna talk to them privately. When they arrive Dustin jumps out and distracts them, whilst I lock my bedroom window. Then we get them both inside my room and lock them in there, saying we won't let them out until they sort out their issues!" Max and Will looked at the others expectantly. "Sounds perfect!" Lucas and Dustin exclaimed.
El arrived at Max's before Mike and was chatting with Lucas when Mike burst through the front door. They both stared at each other before exclaiming "What are you doing here!?" at the same time. Right on cue, Dustin jumps out of nowhere, and starts singing and dancing around, distracting them from the loud noises as Max locks her window, with help from Will. Her and Will run out of her room and she gives Lucas a thumbs up, the signal that everything was ready. He smiled and grabbed Mike and El and practically dragged them into Max's room. "What the hell are you doing!?" Mike yelled as the door got slammed in his face. He heard it being locked from the other side. "You're not being let out of there until you talk! And the windows locked so don't try to get out that way." Will yelled, slightly muffled by the door. El sighed and sat down on the bed as Mike sat next to her.
It was a couple minutes before either of them spoke. "Tom is not interested in me romantically Mike" El said quietly, looking down at her hands. "I know that now. I caught him and Stacy kissing in the art room" Mike exclaimed, turning around to sit crossed legged on the bed, facing her. She did the same. "Then why the hell didn't you drop it? Apologise to me?" El questioned, confused. "You know how stubborn I am" Mike stated whilst grabbing her hands. This time she didn't pull away. Mike sighed before saying "I'm so sorry El. I should've trusted you and not tried to interfere with your friendship. I love you" El crawled into his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I forgive you. And I love you too. Also, I'm flattered that you care so much" she exclaimed before connecting her lips with his.
After hearing no talking for a while Max announced to the others "Okay, let's see what happened!" before unlocking and opening the door. They all peered inside to the sight of Mike and El kissing. "Ewwwwww they're sucking face!!!" Dustin squealed, covering his eyes. Mike and El pulled apart quickly turning to face their friends. "So, does this mean you're back together!?" Lucas asked. "What do you think?" Mike exclaimed as he slipped El's promise ring back onto her finger and he and El walked out of the room, leaving their four friends standing there as the couple headed to Mike's.
