When Mike got his drivers license, he could've gone anywhere but the only place he ever drove his car to was El's. Once she was allowed to go to school and be a normal kid, Hopper had bought a proper house for them. When he got home every day he would either find Mike and El together or a note saying that they were at the Wheeler's.

It was about 4 months after Mike got his licence that Hawkins had the biggest storm they'd ever had. No one in the town had power and it was a terrifying night. Especially for El. She hated storms to begin with but this one, this one absolutely petrified her. She sat on the living room couch, snuggled into Hopper's side, crying. Suddenly, a loud knock on the door echoed through the house. "What the hell?!" Hopper questioned as he got up to open the door. There, standing on the doorstep was Mike, soaking wet with a concerned look on his face. El looked up from her position on the couch. "Oh El" He sighed as he looked at her devastated and tear stained face and rushed over to her, engulfing her in a hug. As Hopper closed the door he looked at the pair and smiled. He was glad that Mike was so supporting and loving. El deserved someone who would risk their life to drive through a dangerous storm just to make sure she was okay.

After a few minutes of hugging and El crying into Mike's shoulder she pulled away. She looked out the living room window and saw Mike's car and realised that he'd driven through the dangerous storm to get to her. "Oh my god Mike!" she yelled, new tears welling up in her eyes as she realised what danger he put himself in just to see her. "You-you drove to me in this storm? That's so dangerous! Why the hell would you risk your life like that?!" She questioned, holding his hands. "Because I love you." Mike stated whilst gazing into her eyes. "And I knew you were scared. I felt it. And I knew you needed me. So here I am" El laughed at his response and hugged him again before replying "You're an idiot"

2 hours later Hopper exited his room to check on the two teens and found them curled up together on the couch, El's back resting against Mike's stomach and his arm around her waist. He smiled at how tight Mike was holding on to her and how safe she looked, like nothing could hurt her. He grabbed a blanket from the linen cupboard and covered the couple with it, then trudging back to his room.

When morning came it was no longer storming, just pelting down with rain. After calling home to assure his mother he was fine, Mike had breakfast with the Hopper's. Every time he had meals with them (which was a lot) he would beg Hopper to tell him stories about his time on the police force in the city. El smiled at her boyfriends intrigued face as he intently listened to a story about a string of burglaries.

At around 12pm, Karen called and demanded Mike come home for Sunday lunch. He stood on the front porch, keys in hand, saying goodbye to El. He squinted out at the torrential downpour and got ready to make a run for it. El watched as he sprinted to his car and hurriedly got in. He paused as he put his keys in the ignition and them suddenly climbed out of the car and sprinted back over to El, completely drenched. "What are you doing?!" She questioned, staring at her soaking wet boyfriend. "I forgot something" he answered. "Well what is it? I'll go get it cause you're soaking wet and Hopper won't want you to drag water into the ho-" She was cut off by Mike pressing his lips to her passionately and grabbing her waist. After a couple seconds he pulled back, blushing a spectacular shade of red. She just looked at him stunned as he ran back out into the rain. As his car pulled away she heard him yell "I love you!" She laughed and went back inside.
