Marry?

Since El had been back she was learning rapidly. Now the others knew about her they could help her learn and teach her things. Especially Mike. He would come over most afternoons after school and sit with her, talking about science and the universe. She was interested in everything he had to say. The universe fascinated her. She liked the idea of there being other planets, and thousands of stars. (She was introduced to Star Wars immediately by the boys and she quickly fell in love with the franchise) Some afternoons the whole gang would come over. These were the most fun, just the six of them being crazy and Hopper regretting having that many kids in the small cabin at once.

One of these afternoons, after having done their homework they were all deciding on a movie to watch. (It was a Friday night and Hop was letting them stay the night, much to the excitement of El) As soon as he finished his work, Mike had immediately jumped up onto the sofa beside El and wrapped his arm around her, her snuggling into his side. The others were used to this behaviour, El and Mike were usually attached in some capacity whether it be holding hands, snuggling up to each other or sleeping side by side. Lucas looked up at the couple and snorted, he still got surprised at how they would rush to one another's side so quickly. "You two are like an old married couple. I await the day you actually get married" He stated. "Knowing Mike it'll be as soon as they legally can! I swear, we'll have just graduated high school and he'll have the ring!" Dustin exclaimed, whilst drank from his soda. "I dibs best man!" Will yelled, jumping up and punching the air. "No way Byers! I totally dibs it!' Dustin yelled. He, Will and Lucas continued to bicker about it while Max rolled her eyes next to them.

"Whats 'married'?" El whispered in Mike's ear. He blushed. He assumed Hopper or Joyce had told her what it meant. He sat back a bit and looked at her, getting lost in her eyes. (He fully intended on marrying her, he even had ideas for what he wanted their wedding to be like. And how many children they would have. And where they would live) "Marriage is... well its sort of like a promise. You give each other rings and promise that no matter what you'll always love them, and support them. Its like declaring your love in front of everyone you care about and becoming family forever" He carefully explained, intertwining his fingers with hers. She tilted her head, thinking. "Can we get married?" She asked, staring into his eyes. Mike's cheeks blushed even redder. "We're not old enough" he said, a disappointed look on his face. El frowned. She wanted to marry him. He saw the frown and quickly kissed her, "Don't worry, as soon as we're old enough, we are gonna get married. I promise" El smiled up at her lovely boyfriend and then snuggled into his chest. She couldn't wait for their wedding.
