Steven was on the phone, talking to his friend Connie, while Sally stood in the kitchen, being bored. It was a normal day.

Sally overheard Steven talking about school, and she suddenly remembered all her old junk she packed with her. Like her laptop. And her clothes. And pictures of her late mom and dad. She never actually unpacked them.

Steven ended his call with Connie and quickly told Pearl that he wants to do school. After a little while, Steven had gathered all kinds of stuff that Sally had seen in school before.

"So, what do you do first in this 'school'?" Pearl asked.

"Uh, um... I don't know! This is all Connie told me! Why don't I ask follow up questions? Who will teach me now?" Steven complained. Pearl gasped loudly.

"Teach you? Oh, Steven, if I had known that's what you wanted, we could've just done one simple thing instead of all of this!" Pearl said. She jumped up and began doing her strange dance that she does before summoning an object other than her spear.

She summoned a mirror with a blue cracked gem on the back. She handed it to Steven.

"This will tell you everything about gem culture!" Pearl said.

"Okay, let's show you the Galaxy Warp." Pearl said. "Show us the Galaxy Warp!" She ordered the mirror. It didn't do it. She took it from Steven. "Show us the Galaxy Warp!" She ordered again. It didn't do it still. "Hm, I guess it's finally broken. Well, I guess that's the end of our little school."

Steven smiled and ran outside with the mirror. Now there was only Sally and Pearl.

Knowing Pearl wouldn't talk to her, Sally sighed and walked towards the door.

"Sally..."

Sally turned to face Pearl. Pearl was looking at the floor, not making eye contact with Sally.

"Yes, Pearl?" Sally asked.

"I... I'm sorry about what happened... We can... We can try fusion... Again..." Pearl said.

"Um..." Sally didn't know what to say. She wanted to fuse with Pearl, but what if it's unstable? What if she is like Sugilite? What if Pearl can't do it? "I don't... Know... Do you want to?" Pearl didn't answer. Sally sighed. She turned and opened the door, and she left.

After a long walk, Sally saw Steven on the Beach. The sun was set and he was still playing with that mirror.

"Hey, Steven!" Sally said.

"Hey, Sally! Watch this!" He said. He told the mirror to day hi, and it did.

"How did you... Fix it?" Sally asked.

"It just started copying everything people say." He said. "I'm going to show the gems." As soon as he said that, the mirror screamed 'no'. He ignored it and ran to the temple. Sally followed.

They walked through the door. The gems said hello.

"Guess what? I fixed the mirror!" Steven said.

"Really? Well, that's good!" Pearl said.

"You didn't tell me it was like a person!" He said. The gems frowned. "Say hi!" He told the mirror. It didn't do it.

"It really did work, guys." Sally said, hoping they would believe him. Steven turned away from them to talk to it.

"C'mon, I know you can do it. You have all kinds of funny sounds to make with me. We're Beach Summer Fun Buddies!" Steven said. The mirror began talking with Steven, and playing with him.

"It shouldn't be able to talk to him. It should only follow orders." Pearl said.

"Do something, Garnet." Amethyst said. Garnet walked over to Steven. The mirror screamed when it saw Garnet. Steven frowned and turned to her.

"Steven, give me the mirror so we can watch it closely." Garnet said. "Don't make me take it from you."

"Yeah, let's bubble it!" Amethyst said. The mirror screamed no.

"It doesn't want to go with you!" Steven said. Sally stood in front of Steven.

"It doesn't like you." Sally said.

"It's a mirror! A tool! It can't want or like anything!" Garnet said reaching for it. Sally gasped and pushed Garnet away, forming a giant, clear and orange wall between them. Garnet's visor was knocked off and she was glaring at them. They ran.

Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl chased after them.

After escaping, Sally and Steven began questioning it.

"What can we do?! We want to help!" Steven said. The gem showed a silhouette of Steven pulling the cracked blue gem out. The turned the mirror around and pulled as hard as possible on the gem. Water began forming shapes around them as the gem got looser. The gem came off and the mirror shattered.

The gem began floating as it started to take form.

A tall, blue gem fell to the ground. Steven and Sally ran up.

"Are you okay...?" Sally asked. The blue gem stood up and faced them.

"Thank you." She said. "It's Steven and Sally, right? I'm Lapis Lazuli."

Steven and Sally nodded and smiled.

"Are you two Crystal Gems?" Lapis asked. They nodded once more. "But... You set me free..." Steven and Sally were now confused.

"Steven! Sally!" A loud and angry voice yelled. Steven and Sally gasped and turned to face the gems.

"Wait!" They yelled.

"You..." Lapis said. "You three knew I was in there!" She yelled. There was a giant arm made of water behind her that she had created. "And you did nothing! Do you even know who I was back then?!" She yelled smashing Garnet.

"Steven, Sally! Run!" Pearl yelled. Steven and Sally turned to Lapis.

"What are you doing?!" Steven asked.

"I am Lapis Lazuli and you cannot keep me prisoner anymore!" She yelled. "They're not going to let us leave." Lapis said raising the water to let them walk past.

"Leave?!" Steven asked.

"Come with me. We can go home. Back to Homeworld..." Lapis said.

"But we are!" Steven said. Lapis sighed, letting the water fall. Garnet broke free and charged at Lapis.

"Sally, will you come with me?" Lapis asked. Sally looked back at the gems. Pearl was pleading for her not to leave.

"Don't, Sally!" Pearl yelled. Garnet getting closer. Sally breathed in and said,

"I want to go home."

Lapis took her hand and they walked into the ocean together, the wave pushing Garnet and Steven back.

"Sally!" Pearl ran towards the water, but Garnet stopped her.

"She is gone. We can't go after her." She said. Pearl was on the verge of crying. Steven was upset. Garnet and Amethyst kept quiet.

Sally was gone...
