Hanji carefully moves to the back of the bus and pulls the curtain shut. We all know it's not smart, not to mention illegal to move around the bus while it's in motion, but sometimes it's just necessary. When they emerge, they look like a female, their hair is pulled into pigtails and the have on a blue long sleeve shirt, jeans and flip flops.

Mike then moves to the back and changes as well.

“I'll get some plasma and some sorta sugar for you,” Hanji explains. I get why, but I still dislike the idea of sweets, even if it is to get my blood sugar up.

I glance down at the line connecting me to the male, it's contents moving from me to him. The crimson liquid that fills our veins and keeps us alive, it's job so huge yet the compound is so small and simple. Especially mine.

The bus stops across the street from the drug store, our normal procedure for running errands.

“Bean? Ready to go?” Hanji asks the brunette.

“Yes boss,” He says as he moves to the door. He peeks his head out and waits till he's sure no one is around before fully exiting, Hanji closely following behind.

I watch through our covered windows as they cross the street. As soon as they disappear from my sight, I turn my attention to the male. His eyes twitch in his sleep and his mouth moves to unheard words. His arms lay at his side, bruised. As if someone of superior strength grabbed him. He obviously resisted, fighting for his self preservation. His breath was light and smooth, like a feather falling from an angel's wings. The low rum of the engine is the only sound that fills our living space. Unconsciously, I begin singing.

Day by day

We have lost our edge

Don't you know?

Forgotten is the life we led

Now it seems

You don't care what the risk

The peaceful times they have made us blind

Can't look back

They will not come back

Can't be afraid

It's time after time

So once again

I'm hiding in my room

The peaceful times have made us blind

Now you can't fly if you never try

You told me oh long ago

But you left the wall

Outside the gate

So more than ever, it's real

It was like a nightmare
