We quickly get everything back into the bus, Eren uses half of my compartment to store his new clothes. All of us had quickly and randomly threw on clothes, leaving us in unmatched outfits. The lady at the desk originally is (conveniently) not there when we go to check out.
None of us want to stick around to interrogate her though, so it's probably best she wasn't. If I'm honest, I probably would have gotten her to talk easily, considering the pissed mood I'm in. She put my friends, my family, in danger for a couple of extra bucks. I would have her singing like a paid professional in no time.
Again though, she isn't there, so I'm stuck in this angered state as we pull onto the road again. Everyone notices, but not everyone knows that I’ll be fine as I calm myself down.
“L-Levi?” Eren softly asks, I hadn't noticed he'd moved next to me since I sat down. “Why are you-”
“I'll be fine.” I state coldly. He gives me this look of fear, causing me to sigh. “I just don't like it when people put those close to me in danger. Especially when it's everyone I care about. You included Eren. I just need time to calm down.”
The brat responds with a hug, hiding his face from me. I hug back, oddly feeling calmer already. It’s obvious Eren is still shaken from the whole thing, so I pull him closer to me. With his back against my chest, We both calm down and Eren settles into my arms.
After a little time, we both hear the sound of a camera clicking and look to the source. It's Hanji, again, taking pictures of Eren and I, again. He turns beet red before scooting to the seat next to me.
“Well, since you're no longer being used as a teddy bear,” Hanji starts in, making Eren hide his face. He looks so cute when he's completely and utterly embarrassed. “Levi?”
“Hm?” I ask, having missed what they want me to do.
“Can you move up here so we can talk?” They repeat, sounding slightly annoyed.
I nod and move to their seat, messing up Eren's chocolate locks as I pass him. He looks up to me, not as embarrassed and smiles. I sit beside Hanji and they shove their laptop into my lap.
They managed to get the information on Eren’s case, from a non biased cop, at least they hoped they did. Lovof had gone through a lot of trouble to frame Eren. It was almost perfect, except the original profile of the killer. Eren isn't that tall and surely doesn't have the strength to carry out that ordeal. Not to mention he was shot.
I glance up from the computer to Eren, who watches me like a puppy would their owner through a glass door. He has a curious look in his eyes. The thought that he'd be dead if we hadn't saved him, or arrested if we took him to a hospital, makes my entire body tense.
Tonight is the last stop on our tour. After that, we break for a month. That's when we'll start to get this all sorted out. The others don't have to be a part of it if they don't want to, but I'm certainly doing it.
I hand the computer back to Hanji, giving the brunette a nod. Quickly standing up, I return to my seat and pull Eren close to me once again. His face turns slightly red, but he doesn't protest.
“What was that about?” he softly asks.
“Touring details,” I simply respond.
“Oh, right, I had forgotten that you all are in a band,” he chuckles.
I crack a small smile, but it goes away before anyone notices.
“Hey, Levi?” Eren looks at my eyes, as if it's one of those optical illusions that change the longer you stare.
“Hm?”
“Why do you keep holding me… like this?” He glances to my arms around him.
“I’m not entirely sure,” I shrug. “I guess I just do it on instinct.”
“Why? Is it because you're worried about something?”
“Well, ‘the injured brat’ comes to mind as something to worry about.” I raise my eyebrow at him.
“Yeah, I guess you're right about that, but is there something else?”
I shake my head no. “Nothing you need to worry your head about.”
He nods, though I know he's still thinking about it.
Softly I run my fingers through his hair and he seems to relax his mind a little. I hum quietly, a possible tune for the new song I've been playing with.
“Your voice,” Eren turns to me a little. “I think I've heard it somewhere before…”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean I think I heard your voice before a few days ago.”
“We are a band.” I remind, secretly laughing that it took him so long to put it together. “You might have heard us on the radio.”
Eren nods, though it's almost as if he's not convinced. His eyes light up as a thought makes his way into his head.
“You guys are performing tonight, right?” I nod in response. “Does that mean I get to watch you?”
“If you want to.” Hanji chimes in, typing on the laptop.
“I'm sure we can get you a nice seat in the balcony. Sawney can go get you once the show’s over.” I softly say.
He squeals, excited. “That sounds awesome! Thank you!”
I chuckle. The brat doesn't know how clueless he is, it's almost fitting though. He's got this, almost pure aura about him, and for a moment, I know that he's forgotten about the shitty world he's in. I wish that I could always see him like this, so happy, carefree. But I admire his deadly look of determination as well, and I'm sure that once he's able, he will do everything to clear his name. Which is why I refuse to let him do it alone.
Officially caught up yay!!!! ❤❤
