Chapter Two: The 'Not So Secret' Knowledge That is Hidden.

Alessandra

"You're late", my usually grumpy boss barked as soon as he spotted me. All heads turned briefly to see what was going on and then resumed their work, ears listening attentively to my reprehension. I knew the drill here, I've been here for a week now with no scandal.

"I'm not exactly late, Mr Hudson. You specifically told me to relay a message to Accounts. That's what I was doing", I answered. I don't like it when I'm being scolded when I did nothing wrong, worse still, in public.

"She's being here, Sir", Grace vouched for me.

"Whatever", he waved her off and dumped a few files on my table that read 'Confidential' on the covers. "Take those to the Boss".

"What Boss, sir?", I genuinely asked.

He threw me a menacing glare and walked off angrily and in a grim manner.

What?

I genuinely didn't know, then. He was supposed to specify...

"How rude", I huffed and stood up to adjust my beige coloured skirt that hugged my curves, too perfectly if you'll ask me. I don't know why all the bosses here are always rude and grumpy after a meeting with the Mr. Arden. He can't be that bad.

As soon as Mr. Hudson's door shut behind him, there was an immediate uproar in the office. Everyone stood up shouting and panicking, some were mimicking the boss.

"Code red, I repeat, Code red", Edmund, the comedian of the floor shouted in a voice that was loud enough for all of us to hear but not loud enough for the boss to hear.

"May Day! May Day!", a red haired dude said and Aarti gasped and ran up to me. She was busy pulling up my almost short skirt and removing creases from my chocolate brown top while Grace took out  my hair from its pony tail and arranged it. If I didn't know better, I'd think they're trying to slutty me up for the occasion. I do know better, so I know.

The whole floor had been thrown into series of activities now.

"What are you doing?", I was confused. I'm getting confused a lot these days.

"Oh nothing, just making you look less of an idiot", she waved me off.

"You've being here for just a week and you're already going to the Boss's Boss's office. Girl, you're lucky", Aarti sighed.

"You guys are so overdramatic", I laughed. "You know you can just say Mr. Arden's Office, right?"

"Shhhh!", they both shushed me instantly and continued making me look more like Marilyn Monroe than a probationary publicist at the office.

"Did I just hear Code Red?", Zach's head popped out of his own office, Editor in chief II.

"Uh huh! You did", Victoria, the second black lady on the floor answered from where she was inspecting the grave 'damage' being done to me by Grace and Aarti.

His eyes traveled round the room until they landed on me and I could have sworn I saw a frown pass through his face. "It's you then", he said in a resigned tone.

Edmund went over and gave him a comforting pat on the back before whispering something into his ears. He clenched his jaw and his handsome face hardened.

"What's up with you guys today? I'm just delivering some freaking files, not dropping my resignation", I took the hair ruffle from Grace to put my hair back up in its ponytail and walked out angrily to the elevator, with the 'confidential' files in my hands.
