Chapter One: The Okay Okay Day.Alessandra Alana Montez, or Endra as I always loved to call her, was super excited that she got her dream job. A spot in the Publicity Department of the Arden and Co industries.
I was so shocked when she woke me up that particular morning with her screams and tears. I thought something had finally happened to Ferdie, her brother I hate so much but try to love because of her. He was always the reason for her tears since they were kids. A story for another day.
Or perhaps Roxanne. Then I remembered she was sleeping peacefully in the other room, cuddled up in the arms of her disgusting boyfriend, the one that reeked of garlic and ginger.
Ewww. I don't know why she hasn't dumped his ass yet. The freaking cheetah...
See that? See what I did there?
Ha!
I'm on a roll today..
Anyway, I later found out they were tears of joy as she narrated to Roxy and showed her an Email, whatever that is, on her answering device or cellphone as they call it these days.
Sighs, so many terminologies to learn.
Now, my baby girl gave my other baby girl a once over in her white body tight midi dress and tan blazers, accompanied by a grin and a thumbs up. The colours complimented her brown skin very well and her unruly brown curly hair was up in a bun, courtesy of Roxy, of course.
Truth is, Endra would be a fashion disaster if it weren't for Roxy, the one with the boyfriend that always reeks of ginger and garlic. Not that she doesn't know how to dress, no. She doesn't just have enough money to get the clothes she needs, wants and should have.
Roxanne, that's her full name, practically forced her down and strapped the nude coloured sandal heels on her legs before sending her out the door. I couldn't help the laughter that bubbled out of my mouth. Typical Roxy.
Not after she gave me a kiss on the head though.. I would have ran all the way down to Arden and co. just to scratch out her big brown eyes from their sockets..
You know I'm just bluffing, yeah?..

After a painfully long ride, I highlighted from the cab and peeped at my wristwatch.
08:30..
Better earlier than later, my mama used to say..
Taking a deep breathe and giving myself a once over and a mental thumbs up, I proceeded to enter the intimidatingly tall building.
My sandal heels tapped on the black marble floors of the lobby as I made her way towards the receptionist desk, my eyes wandering around the magnificent decor.
I have to say, I'm highly impressed.. Wouldn't have expected less from The Arden and Co..
"Hello, welcome to Arden and Co. How may I be of assistance to you?", The dark haired woman behind the counter with the name tag 'Laura Parker' said in a soft businesslike voice. She must have practiced that particular tone to perfection and used it a lot of times because it sounded mechanical.
Anyway, I'm not here to evaluate the employees, let's just get this over with..
While I gave her my information and reasons for coming, her dark smokey eyes moved horizontally and vertically, sizing me up as if I were not capable of stepping a shoe clad foot onto the front porch. Or worse still, working in the building with her.
