Chapter Seven: Awkwardish State of Mind.First of all, I'm extremely elated to be out of the apartment and here in the Dumonte mansion enjoying the majestic luxuries it brings.
Not that I don't love our apartment. It's cosy enough.
What do they say? A change of scenery is good for the health...
I'm here in the company of my gossip buddies, Bonnie and Clyde. It's ironic because this pair are not your typical Bonnie and Clyde. They're always at loggerheads with each other. The typical crime couples were more inclined to get rid of any possible danger directed towards their pair and were always working together. Their ingenuine namesakes were more inclined to throttle one another before the danger came lurking around the corner.
It's been really amusing to watch their frequent banters. Sometimes, it gets boring and irritating, like now that they're arguing about who gets the most sardine in their dish and who doesn't. Who goes behind who's back to make puppy dog eyes at the cooks for a cup of yoghurt, who gets spoilt the most and what not. I just zoned out on their recent conversation, and my mind, as if already tired of them, wandered off to better things or living things. Like my babies.
Roxanne has been going about in her sullen mood and trying to ruin the convenient atmosphere for the others. They all knew her too well to pay her any attention, and that only further soured her mood.
Dinner was filled with tense silence at first when the Elder Dumonte joined the table. It was perhaps because of the awkwardness and stubbornness between him and his eldest daughter. Roxy baby refused to acknowledge his presence for a while but a strong kick under the table from Sayrah unclasped her mouth and she murmured a quick greeting, not before sending a glare filled with hot soup Sayrah's way. The blonde shrugged nonchalantly and continued her conversation with her husband.
Haha! I love this girl...
Surprisingly, the Eldest Dumonte replied her greeting and gave a tight smile. His wife narrowed her eyes at him and he shrugged. From thence, dinner commenced with a more tolerable mood. Bonnie, Clyde and I were nestled at our own corner of the dinning room feasting on roasted salted fish and fresh milk.
A little after bed time, I walked into Roxy and Juan whispering in the kitchen. At first, I thought he was trying to harm her with how tight a grasp he held on her arms but when I heard their conversation, I thought twice about taking a leap and scratching his pretty green eyes out. I know Endra saw them because they were so engrossed in their conversation and I'm thankful because I know I'll be hearing about it later so I walked away blissfully, thankful for the blessing of nosey friends.
Endra baby on the other hand was not left without drama in her life. After she'd walked into the house gloomily, Bonnie said she looked like someone who'd being trampled underfoot by an Armour tank, pushed off a rocky cliff, devoured whole by sharks and left to die, figuratively speaking and had the guts to laugh. I'd glared at her and prepared to give her an earful but Clyde beat me to it and for once, I allowed someone else to do my dirty work. I didn't mind though. He was better at putting her and her dog ass mouth in her place.
So, after Roxy had confiscated Endra baby's answering device when she caught her secretly worrying over a message from a certain person called 'David Arden' on it, the day went by better and Endra was feeling much better already. I caught her laughing with my new bestie Sayrah on the balcony a while ago and I can say that she's enjoying herself.
Well, apart from the constant flirtatious advances she'd being receiving from Tobias, the ones that had tripled since the last time they'd met, the brief moment she thought about the man named David Arden, her phone call with the Red Car guy and what she walked in on, in the kitchen, Endra baby was good to go.
