Tyler had pushed me even harder in training the next day and at the end of day I felt something change in me. It was a very odd feeling. It felt like I had more power and more control. I had wondered around the rest of the day trying to figure out what was happening.
Tyler had asked me if I was okay and naturally I had said yes. Whatever was happening wasn't bad but it was freaking me out. At night it would overwhelm me to the point that I would sit at the window staring at the forest.
He had noticed I was acting strange but didn't comment on it. It was as if he knew what was happening but left me so that it could run its course. The boys seemed to feel the change rather than notice it. It is as if their instincts new that I was growing as an individual. It caused them to have more respect for me.
When my emotions got out of control they would step back a bit to allow me to regain it. The first time my emotion got to me I had almost killed one of them. I would feel it coming and when I couldn't calm down I would either go for a run or push my face into Tyler's chest taking in his scent. I was getting irritated with whatever was happening and it caused my emotions to rage along with it.
It also didn't help that I had to get used to this new power running through me. It was one of the reasons I was so emotional. I had to learn how to control it almost all over again.
The teacher had also warned the students to stay clear from me. They had looked for trouble with me during my stay here but when they sensed the change they were told to following their instincts instead of ignoring it.
The training become longer the last week for us. Tyler had said that we would be graduating by the end of the week if we could get through the run, which was two days long. We had even decided to do some training in our spare time, going on runs and giving each other some pointers.
I wanted them to all ace this test so I would help them whenever I saw them struggle. I had even taught them a few neat tricks. We had worked so hard that on the day of the test we were oozing confidence.
"Don't get too cocky now. This is a lot different than your normal runs." I looked over at Alpha Toro. He was taunting us but I couldn't help but find some truth in his words. We were each blindfolded and taken to an unfamiliar location in the woods.
We took the blindfolds off and we heard the countdown in our heads. When it hit zero I immediately figured out where we were. I had found we were way beyond the limits of the city. The little group I was in started to plan what the best course of action was.
I had found something strange on the location search and told them we can't just barrel ahead like always. We shifted and started to make our way back to the academy. The first hour was uneventful but I could soon feel the hairs standing up as we got closer to our first obstacle.
We had split up to corner it. We were still close enough to feel each other's presence but far enough to make sure it would only target one person. It attacked one of the other people in my group of four and when I went to help I nearly did a double take.
It was a hellhound. It made me wonder if it was really part of the course but I didn't question it much and helped to knock it out. When it was down someone linked us and said "First point to the silver team." Really they had to go with that name.
We continued like this. As we finished one leg of the run the other would pop up not too far and they became increasingly difficult. We were exhausted when the sky became dark. Two of the boys went hunting for some food to replenish our strength. There was a small puddle of water and we all lapped it up greedily. It felt good to have some water running down my throat. Once we were all satisfied we huddled together for the night while we took turns in watching for danger.
