There were some couches in the lobby and I waited for him there. I didn't know where we were staying so I had to wait for him. I was in line of sight of Maloney and I could feel her staring when she wasn't busy.
I didn't care though. I was in my own world of anxiety. It wasn't long before Tyler showed up. He stood in front of me. I stood up letting him know I was ready. He led me back to the car and we headed for our hotel.
The car stopped and I got out to walk in but I quickly realized that we were in front of a restaurant. "I thought we might get dinner before we get some rest." His hand came up to the small of my back and he led me to a table. I took the menu from the lady and saw that it was a very high class restaurant.
I ordered what I wanted and ignored Tyler. I wasn't in the mood to talk to him after he denied me to go out and do what I wanted. Once our drinks arrived I looked at the people around us and the people were pretending not to stare at us. Which they failed at quite miserably.
Every one of these people had money and they were not afraid to show it. Like usual all the woman were staring at Tyler. But he payed them no mind. He kept his eyes solely on me as if I was the air he breathed. I don't understand how can people take things away from someone else.
Tyler would say that the men are also staring if I was in a talking mood. I didn't care much. I had only one person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I peaked at him from the corner of my eye and found something much more interesting to look at on the table. "I am only looking out for your safety." His eyes never left me and his face was as stoic like always.
I have always wanted someone like him. Someone that just wants to make sure I am safe but now that I have it, I can protect myself. Fate finally decided to grant me my wish. There was still a part of me that wanted this. What woman doesn't want a strong man that can make sure she's out of harm's way?
It made my chest swell with unknown feelings at the way he was concerned for me but I was not the damsel in distress like I was when I was human. I wanted to use everything I knew to fight. "I know." I whispered it so softly I thought he didn't hear it. But the rumble coming from him had let me know he heard.
I was not going to give up so easily and the way he kept on watching me made me think he knew it as well. The people that were going to go in my place were definitely going to let something happen. So while we were eating I was thinking of ways to make sure I go on one of the missions. Even if it meant knocking him out I would do it.
After we had our meal we went to the hotel room. I didn't unpack anything since I was used to living out of a suit case when I went on vacation and got ready for bed. Tyler walked towards the other side of the bed but before he could make it there I took the pillow and threw it at his head.
He raised one of his eyebrows in question. "I think you will find that the couch is in need of some company tonight." I got in bed and turned off the light. A few minutes later I heard his feet move and the couch groan in protest of his weight.
I didn't care if I wouldn't be able to sleep but he needed to know that I was not a piece of glass that needed protecting. I was one of the best fighters amongst his guards and will not allow him to pull favors just because we were in love.
It would be unfair to everyone else and people would then hate me more if I stayed away from my duties. I lay in bed staring at noting in particular. The thoughts that went through my head was enough to keep me awake for a couple of hours.
The growls that kept coming from Tyler I ignored it even if it did irritate me. I turned around to stare at the empty bed beside me. It wasn't long before I started to fall asleep and when I did I heard one loud growl. I swear I heard the couch creak and then not long after I felt the bed dip and then I fell asleep.
