We all barely got any sleep last night, and when one of us did fall asleep, we would wake up screaming from a nightmare. As a beam of sunlight broke through, the layers of green mist outside and shined on all of our faces. This told us the day has started and we should do something other than lay around. I felt like I should take a shower because everything that has to happen made me feel unclean. So while everyone was staring at there breakfast, because no one wanted to eat they were too worry, I went to the bathroom and started the shower. As the hot water landed on me, I felt nothing. Like I was numb and feeling had left me completely. I exit the shower because it just wasn't doing anything for me, and changed into some fresh clothes and greeted my friends.
Michelle said with a fake confidence in her voice, "Lee, we are safe in here right?"
Dominic said, "Lee, do you... Umm, have something we can use as weapons?"
"Well I know I have something, around here but are you absolutely sure we need them?"
I looked around and saw everyone's faces in agreement, so I went to my parent's room and grabbed what we could use as weapons. So, again, we made a list of what we have. I'm starting to hate these list, they just seem like garbage:
1. Two Bows
2. Ten Arrows
3. One Air Rifle
4. Two hundred Copper Beads
5. Two Paintball Pistols
6. One hundred and Sixty paintballsDominic called dibs on one of the bows and five Arrows. I grabbed the other bow and rest of the arrows. Daniel got their air rifle, Michelle got one of the Paintball guns and half of the ammo, and Eli grabbed the other half of that pair. Grace didn't want anything because she felt uncomfortable for what they represented. They were the embodiment of our fears and how much our life has changed. So, we all have our weapons and kept them by our side all times. The day sluggishly moves on, and we all took turns looking out my window waiting for our families. As it was time for me to take the post, we all heard something slamming against the front door. All our faces jumped with excitement, We thought it was out lost parents and Grace ran to start unlocking the door when Dominic yelled, "stop first let's have a look outside, we don't know if they're out there."
Grace replied annoyed, "who else in the world can be out there other than our parents?"
Michelle whispered to us, "the soulless."
"So that's what we're calling them, the soulless."
That name rocked my core, soulless. It just sounded like they weren't undead, but they were dead on the inside. During this whole conversation, Dominic was at the window, shocked with his mouth open wide.
"Dom, who is it? Our parents?"
"No it's, Odyssey, she's soulless."
Dom just stood there, then grabbed his bow and an arrow.
"Dom, no come on, do not do this you don't have to," I said.
He opens the window and the green mist fell in like a waterfall and we held our breath. Dom lined up his shot and we felt the air pull back. As his arrow launched forward and got her right in the chest, I ran over, slammed the window, looked at Dominic and yelled, "what the hell did you just do Dominic? I know you're angry but we have to stay calm."
"Lee it's over and we are all okay."
I looked around and everyone had contentment with what Dominic said so I guess it was fine. Well, I thought everything was okay then the scream came back and it filled the air. We heard multiple fists banging on my front door. Odyssey's death siren. More of the soulless attack the door and it sounded like they weren't leaving. I with each slam of the fist the door gave in a little more each time.
"Dan, Dominic, help me barricade the door," I said furiously.
There were no complaints as we dragged my dresser up against the door. Grace was having a mini panic attack now and Eli was doing his best to calm her down. I felt each bang on the door repeat on my skull. I felt like my skull was going to be cracked open and then my brains would spill on the floor. The night started to fall and, the day was coming to an end. BANG, BANG, BANG. Grace cried herself to sleep and Eli hugged her. Michelle was awake on her phone, Daniel just stared at the ceiling, and Dominic laughed this maniacal laugh. I just felt like I was slowly going insane with each BANG, BANG, BANG. I cried and felt the tears fall down my face, it felt nice.
