Chapter Twenty-One: The Helicopter

"Come on! Why are you so heavy Lee!"
My head rang in ripples like, a pebble dropped in a pond. I felt my shirt crunch up towards the top as my back, and notice I was begin dragged. I was in a cold dark area and I saw a figure in front of me.
"Hey let go of me. Where are we even at?"
"Lee it's me, Michelle, I need you to up."
"I don't know a Michelle and why am I not at home?"
The girl seemed frustrated and let out a groan: "I don't have time for this okay, I will explain everything later okay?"
There seemed to be something in the room, I'm having trouble breathing.
"What's wrong with the air in here?"
"Oh sweet lord I don't have time for this"
We were in a hospital and the lady checked inside a door. Then she gestured me to go inside.
"Okay, what do you remember Lee?"
This was an extremely odd question, what does she mean what do I remember?
"Um, I guess the last thing I know before right now was me going to sleep Monday night."
She seemed to take her time devising her next question: "What was the date of that Monday?"
"Oh, it was the sixth, February sixth."
When I said this her expression went a town to upset. Then she started passing back and forth, saying no over and over.
"What's wrong with you why do you look so upset?"
"You wanna know why I'm so upset Lee?"
I shook my head yes and waited for her angry response.
"BECAUSE IT'S MARCH NINTH! THAT'S WHY LEE!"
There was something moving around outside the doors. She covered her mouth and sat down.
Then she started to whisper to me, in a pleading voice: "Lee, I need you to remember, please. We need to get to the roof but I need you to get ready to fight."
"Wait, two questions. Why do we need to get to the roof and what would we be fighting?"
"Okay, I have two answers and then no more questions okay?"
I nodded my head yes again and awaited her answer.
"One to get the attention of a helicopter, so we can escape and be free. Two, Soulless and that's all I'm saying because we need to move."
I was still confused and was tried for nodding yes so much, so I just stood up and opened the door. A wave of a green mist flowed in followed by someone else.
"Excuse me, sir, but do you know the quickest way to the roof?"
"Lee, come back over here now!"
I went to look back at the man but he was gone.
"Hey, where did he disappear too?"
"Wait, they have never done that before, why did it do that?"
"Don't we have to get to the roof?"
The lady chuckled and walked in front of me. Then we started walking the halls, everything had a fresh coat of crimson red on them. What happened here was there a massacre? Did a terrorist attack happen here?
"Lady, oh I mean Michelle, what happened in this hospital?"
She looked sad and conflicted than she answered me with tears on her face: "The Soulless must have killed everyone here, all these people lost their lives here."
I still don't understand exactly what a Soulless is, but she seems to upset for any questions. We found a stairwell and opened up the door, the smell that came from that door was compared to a massacre of souls. We started walking up the stairwell when i saw another person.
"Lee! Get back down here!"
"Hey, are you lost! We can help you."
Then all of the figured dropped on top of me. The female started biting me and scratching my throat.
"Michelle help me! Sir why are you so violent."
BANG!
The body fell limped and dropped on top of me. I felt its final breath leave as it dances crossed my face.
"Why did you shoot him!"
When my words hit her, the expression on her face turned sour: "I just saved your life! I get it you can't remember the last month but shut up!"
I can't believe she yelled at me like that, but she was right, it probably would have killed me.
"Thanks, Michelle you saved my life."
She eased back into a relaxed position and said: "Let's just go to the roof."
We started walking up the blood stain stairwell when we saw the door at the top. I started crying because that means this horrible, vile, treacherous, life we were in will be over, will finally be safe and I can find my parents. I opened the door for Michelle: "Here you go my good lady."
She laughed and walked to the roof: "Come on let's leave this place."
Just as I started closing the door I heard the screeching of Soulless. I slammed my whole body against the door to contain them when Michelle shouted out.
"Lee! There's the helicopter."
The sounds of the helicopter blades in the distance gave me strength.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Guys just go I'll hold them off!"
The memory of Daniels sacrifice went through my face.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Lee I trust you when you say we have to leave Grace."
The school's explosion race by in my head.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Lee it's all your fault I killed Eli and know I'm going to kill Michelle!" BANG! Dominic
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Lee its here come on!"
"Michelle, I'm so sorry I remember!"
I felt the tears roll down my face and kept my body against the door. I saw Michelle jumped into the helicopter and started to run towards the copter. The Soulless started running towards me and I jumped as the plane started to gain distance from the building. I missed the plane by a few inches and began my descent. This is how it all ends, wow. Then all of a sudden I felt a sensation go through my body and looked up.
"Come on Lee, I'm not leaving without you."
I pulled my self back into the helicopter and sat down. One of the violets began to talk: "Yeah I got two survivors going to fall back and refuel before I go out again."
Michelle shouted: "Lee! We did we finally made it out."
I never felt so joyful in my life and couldn't believe this. Then I saw a Soulless, it was on a roof higher than us and jumped into the spinning blades. The whole helicopter bounced as it started to point downwards: " I'm going down, my coordinates are-"
