It Only Takes A Day

Chapter Seven: Survive

There screams filled the air and we all tried to scream back but, nothing could come out and we were frozen. While our impending doom was approaching towards us Daniel jumped in front of us and start fighting them, one of the soulless bit him and he let out a scream "Ahhhhhhhhhhh."
"Daniel, what are you doing why did you do that?"
"Guys just go I hold them out guys run."
"Alright grab a gas mask everyone and run out."
"What about Daniel, we need to save him."
"We don't have time for this."
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh run guys I can't hold them off anymore."
We rushed out of the newly broken door and started running outside."
Eli asked me in a whisper "Lee where are we running to."
I singled us to stop and pointed for us to run into an abandoned barbershop.
"I honestly have no I dead come on people where do we go."
Grace said unsure "How about if we leave the island and go somewhere else."
"Okay that sounds good we should do that but, first we're going to need some wheels there is a bike shop down thirteen blocks from here."
Michelle looked at Dominic and asked him "Dom you said you saw no survivors right?"
"Yeah, I saw no one it was reassuring and at the same time a devasting truth."
"Alright so here is our plan we are going to walk down this block break into the bike store and ride the bikes out of town but to where exactly?"
Michelle had an idea "Cape May, rich people live around which means survival bunkers I say that's where we all go."
"Okay this is starting to sound like a plan but, I believe we should honor Daniel and his sacrifice."
Everybody nodded in agreement I grab one of my arrows( I have 8 left I picked some out of the soulless and made sure Dom also has eight) pulled out a lighter and lit the tip on fire.
"On three guys Daniel alright."
All together we counted down "One, two, three, for Daniel."
We all watched as the flaming arrow flew out of sight. So we started walking down the blocks. Trying our best to stay silent and
whenever we saw a soulless walked by we would stay silent and hide. They usually only stayed in one area for twenty minutes.
Dom asked sounding crabby "Lee I'm hungry I think everyone is hunger can we stop for a minute and eat."
"Alright but no fully take their gas mask off we don't know if the air is toxic."
"Dude all the air does is give you a rash that's all it did to me."
Eli started to say "No Lee and Michelle got a high fever and started coughing up blood."
Grace said scared "I and Eli don't know what it will do to us so we need to find a secure area just in case me and Eli get new symptoms."
"Alright will stop how about the upper floor of this condo."
"Okay, but we should scan the area first before we do that."
"Come on guys we need to leave let hurry up."
So we walked to the top floor and locked ourselves in what seemed to be a bedroom. We took off our mask and started eating, while this was happening I could see Dom's rash spreading but, Eli and Grace seemed to find then *cough, cough* and I saw blood on the floor.
"Alright guys put the mask back on where leaving, Dom your rash is spreading Michelle you just coughed blood we need to leave.
Everyone moaned but did as I said putting there mask back on.
So we walked out of the building and start walking again when Dom pointed out "Hey Lee isn't that the bike shop."
"That most definitely-"
I suddenly tripped and fell to the ground.
Eli helped me backed up and asked: "Lee are you okay why did you fall."
I looked at the ground and saw a thin piece of string stretching across the street. I came to the realization too late and I shouted: " Guys it's a trap run."
But the net was already on top of us and we saw a shadow figure moving towards us.
"Guys we got some newcomers, let's show them a how the Wild greet newcomers."
Then there were a few whoops and a really loud shout when there came up to my face and stole my gas mask.
"Thanks for this and by the way I'm Serenity, give me everything else you have."
I gather some saliva in the mouth and spit run on her face. I sat up and grab my bow and placed an arrow in it and gestured my friends to arms.
"How about you release us and I don't put an arrow through your chest. I like that I allot better and I'm Lee for your information."
I saw the smile leave her face and reappeared on me, this is going to be interesting.
