My blankets and pillows were covering my room floor as I woke up today. I had overslept and seeing as though it was only 7 in the morning, I hated the idea that waking up this early was considered late. I had basketball training with Sophie today, although the season didn't start until another couple of weeks, it wasn't too late to get into shape.

Pain stung between my legs and a burning sensation came from my stomach. I groaned getting up from my bed, wishing I could have more time to sleep. I made my way into the shower, which thankfully my room connected itself into a personal bathroom. The warm water made my pain intensify at first but calmed down the tension I had been feeling.

As I left the shower, my mouth gaped open seeing the different shaped bruises paint on my skin. The hickeys Dick left ranged from under my breasts to the inside of my thighs. I hated seeing what he left behind knowing we would no longer see each other. I frowned and changed into my clothes.

The ride back home was awkward last night but Dick had let me keep his shirt that I ripped. That shirt was now thrown across the room alongside his cap, looking at me as if mocking me. I threw a pillow on top of it, hoping his scent wouldn't fill up my apartment with heartache. I knew it wasn't love but more so lust but as the boys my age become more disrespectful and horny, it was hard not falling for someone so caring.

I packed my basketball equipment in my bag, threw on a lackers jersey over my short sleeved shirt and entered the kitchen. A small stack of mini pancakes laid on top of an aluminum foiled plate. The best part about living with my uncle was that he knew how to cook. I stuffed three cold water bottles in my bag, laid a pancake in my mouth and walked out the door right before locking the apartment up.

Ignoring the sluggish wave of emotion run through me, I speed walked towards Sophie's house which thankfully was only a 9 minute walk. I kicked each pebble in my way and skipped to the beat my headphones released. Once in a while I'd hiss in pain as I'd move my legs too far from each other.

I had crossed the line between the south and the part where the upper part of Gotham begins. Luckily for Sophie, she only got to experience life in the good parts of the city. Once I saw her street appear, I began jogging towards her door knowing I was late. I jumped across her lawn and knocked on her door catching my breath. Sophie's mom opened the door rather quickly, flashing a sleepy grin at me. Sophie's mom was a short, plump Japanese women. Obviously, Sophie got her height from her 6'4 father.

"Hey Rory" She said as her accent became very prominent at the sound of my name. Her small stature was then gently pushed out the way to let Sophie out. I grinned at Sophie's mom and nodded slightly seeing her daughter rush out looking even more gigantic.

"Bye, mom!" Sophie grunted pushing the door close. She chucked the basketball in her hands at me unexpectedly. I huffed grabbing it, the weight rocking my side ways and began dribbling along the sidewalk we were walking on.

"Can't believe basketball got extended to a fall sport" I murmured to her dribbling the ball between my legs and the empty space on my side. Ow.

"Hold up, aren't you going to do soccer for the fall?" She grabbed the ball and dribbled on her own. Soccer was a fall sport and basketball had been a winter sport but now both sports were extended for the whole year until May, when all the seasons would end.

"No, not this year" I sighed fixing the bag on my shoulder. Funny how our conversation of sports turned into discussing who we were dreading to see back in school to how my funeral would be planned out.

"You think they'd let me blast slow life?" She grinned referring to my favorite song. I shrugged and tried to speak but she pulled me in a headlock while ruffling my hair. Her being 5'9 and me being 5'3 really didn't help much. I groaned and tried prying myself off but it was impossible. As my vision blurred, I caught a glimpse of a small mural on the side of one of the houses. My backpack!

"Sophie, we gotta get something real quick" I shrieked grabbing her hand and sprinting off to the direction of the abandoned place. I could hear her heavy breathing behind me as we swerved into different locations to find an entrance. She's never been here before, maybe that's why she's shaking in fear.

"Rory, you know I hate coming to places like this" She wheezed gripping onto her ball.

"Suck it up, we're here," I told her letting go of her hand and running into the park. Clearly, other people decided to add more art to the cement walls. I rushed into the hollow ramp and pointed to my section. She follows and dribbles onto the ground. Thankfully all the bad things I'd done in life didn't catch up to me. My backpack laid above the ramp where I was originally at when nightwing attacked that night.

I climbed out the ramp and tried fitting my backpack into my duffle bag. Sophie came after me, hovering over me as I was left to struggle in her shadows. Before I could even zip up my duffle bag, I feel the tip of Sophie's foot hit my side. I furrowed my eyes hearing her breath be caught short in a frantic manner.

"What is it?" I whispered. Sophie just looked down at me and back up to our left. I turned around to inspect and saw a hooded figure holding a bag. I saw closely and saw it was a middle-aged man looking intensely at us. "Ignore him, probably some junkie" I assured her.

"What are you two doing he'?" He called out. I rolled my eyes to Sophie and grabbed her hand with my free one. She helped me up, slightly phased by the sudden fear she was experiencing. I began leading her to another exit. That was until I could hear his footsteps running towards us.

"Go," I whispered almost tripping on her shoes since we were so close together. I felt a gross crummy cold hand pull my arm back. Sophie stopped and tried pulling me back. I scoffed at his attempt to touch me. I grabbed his wrist and pushed him onto the ground.

"You pedophile! What would your mother think of you harassing two" kick "little girls?" I shouted kicking his side again. He went to grab my leg but I stomped on his arm making him whimper. I took his bag and handed it to Sophie who was confused on whether or not she should be laughing or running.

"Well, aren't ya' gonna say sorry to us?" I exclaimed crossing my arms. He looked confused but quickly got up. He immediately went for Sophie who had opened the bag and was admiring the piles of money in it. I quickly stopped him with a punch out of reflex causing him to land on his back again. I snickered and was about to say something until someone landed in front of the man.

I looked at Sophie confused with a hand on her arm. She seemed just as surprised as I was when boy wonder, Red Robin grabbed onto the old man. I backed up slowly and crashed into Sophie causing the both of us to go down. The money spilled all over letting bundles of 100 dollars to be scattered around the four of us. The wind carried a few bills into Red Robin's cape.

I helped Sophie up and we both watched as Robin scared off the old man right into an alleyway with a police car waiting for his arrival at the end. Robin turned around with both his hands on his hips, casually staring at us. I could sense a feeling of pride grow around us.

"I'm hungry" Sophie murmured, eyes still wide with disbelief picking up the basketball and walking to the exit. I awkwardly stood there in front of the boy who seemed to be no older than me. My mouth gaped shocked at Sophie completely being unfazed. I guess he could feel my stare burning through him because he too began leaving the sight.

"Wait" I cried, he turned to face me, "Are you a student at Gotham Academy?" I raised my eyebrow at him. His face began to slightly turn red. He shook his head quickly and then cleared his throat to say:

"I don't go to school" He claimed, stating it in a very low voice which was obviously fake. His slender fit gave it all away, he couldn't have been older than me.

"Really? You just seem very familiar" I defended standing on my toes now. He scratched the back of his neck and came closer. He had brown hair, cut short revealing the complex of a baby like face. He was pale, very pale. Reminded me of Bella Swan, the way his fair skin allowed his lips and cheeks to appear more pink than average.

"Maybe I've saved you more than once" He brought up. His voice became familiar, making me enter back to reality. And by the way his voice just cracked I could tell he must still be a young teen. I grinned at his burning face filled with embarrassment.

"Alright then. Goodbye Robin" I waved running towards were Sophie left. I walked out and saw Sophie smirking at me. I groaned knowing what exactly she was thinking.

"I thought you were into older men?"
