Thirdy has been surprisingly quite since i walk him outside the house. I know something is bothering him so I lightly pull his hands  when we reached his car which is parked beside dad's car.

"Hey, kanina kapa tahimik."

I crossed my arms in front of my chest and look at him intently, he did the same but not too long. He took a step closer and hold my shoulders and shook his head multiple times and gave me an awkward smile.

"First of all, thank you. Thank you kasi andito ka sa buhay ko, thank you din kasi alam ko at  nararamdaman kong mahal mo ako. Minsan pakiramdam ko sasabog ang dibdib ko sa sobrang saya just by watching you smile, and I know its kinda crazy to feel that way or i'm just being OA, but heck i don't care at at all. And tonight while watching you smile and laugh with your family, I know how genuinely happy you are, that finally after so many struggles and implications between us and your family, finally I am sitting with them in a dinner. Especially in the night of our anniversary.  Pero, ewan ko. Sobrang nabo-bother doon sa sinabi ng dad mo kanina."

I know exactly what he is talking about. 

Dinner....

While everyone is enjoying the dinner  which Det prepared for Thirdy's visit. 

Elmer: "By the way Thirdy, any plans hijo after graduation? I assume you'll also try out for a D-league team in the US just like what your brother did."

Thirdy gave me a quick look before answering dad. Its the first time tonight that dad directed him a question, its always been Mom and Kuya Loel who always involved him in the conversation and dad will just join in by laughing with us or just by side commenting from time to time.

So I gave him a reassuring smile and squeezed his hands that is rested on the table.

Thirdy: "Uhm actually Sir--"

Elmer: " Just cut the formality hijo, drop the 'sir', call me Tito Elmer. And please try to relax a little, its ok."

Thirdy heave a sigh of relief that made all of us laugh. Ok this is good.

Thirdy: "Thank you po, Tito."

Dad just nod at him and smiled. 

Thirdy: " Going back po sa question, uhm actually po so far hindi ko naman po kino consider sa ngayon. Pero sure po ako na susubukan ko makapag PBA."

Loel: "Why? I mean, why not diba? There's no harm in trying, man if i were as good as you for sure I'll try it abroad."

Thirdy: "Siguro hindi lang ako ganun ka confidence sa sarili ko, but I am open naman kung sakaling dumating, why not."

Elmer: "Akala ko pa naman magkakasama kayo ni Bea sa US kung sakali."

What dad said made me look at him with creased brows. 

Elmer: "Kasi Bea will be taking her PhD in Boston."

PhD? Boston? Oh now I remember. When I was still in high school dad always tells me that it would be good for my resume to took my PhD in Boston. I used to agree on his plans, but its been a long time since we last talk about the topic and hearing him talk about it now, I assume dad is serious about it.

Bea: "I almost forgot about the Boston PhD dad, seryoso po pala talaga kayo don?"

Elmer: "Yeah off course. Your Kuya Loel finished his PhD there, at ikaw din dapat anak. Kaya nga tinatanong ko si Thirdy about any plans in trying it to the US. Kasi two years din ang gugugolin mo sa PhD mo."
