CHAPTER FORTY
"You cut a bitch?"

"I got you this to wear to Veronica's confirmation," Gina said as she walked into Marley's room with a shopping bag. She put the bag down on the bed and pulled out a black silk lace dress.

"Oh my god, it's so pretty," Marley said looking at the dress and Gina smiled proudly.

"Are you sure we can afford this?" Marley said while looking at the dress and Gina nodded.

"Seeing as I got my job back, yes we can," Gina said and Marley's eyes widened.

"You got your job back? That's amazing," Marley said and Gina smiled before nodding.

"Yeah, Weatherbee gave it back to me. We haven't been speaking much, Marls," Gina said changing the subject and Marley nodded before putting the dress back in the bag.

"Yeah, I've been busy. Sorry," Marley said and Gina nodded with a smile.

"Yeah, busy trying to find out where my son is," Gina said and before Marley could reply Gina continued.

"Thin walls. But we will talk about that later. You should start getting ready for Veronica's confirmation," Gina said before walking out of Marley's bedroom. Marley sighed before she started to get ready.

Marley's hair was in a neat low bun and the black silk dress hugged her body nicely. She finished applying her winged eyeliner before looking at her shoe rack. She sighed before deciding the only shoes that would go with the dress is a pair of black heels that Veronica lent her some time ago. Once Marley was pleased with her look she grabbed her black denim jacket before leaving.

After the confirmation Archie, Betty and Marley were standing next to each other at the after party.

"This was the first time I've ever come to a confirmation," Archie said randomly and Marley nodded in agreement.

"My first time too. Can you imagine what would've happened if she didn't renounce Satan? Chaos," Marley said causing Betty and Archie to chuckle.

"Betty, Marley. Mind if I steal my man? It's time for Archie to meet my abuelita," Veronica said as she approached them and Marley nodded.

"Sure, I need to find Jughead anyway," Marley said and Veronica nodded as Marley walked off.

Marley looked around the venue before deciding that she is going to look upstairs. As she walked up the stairs she noticed Jughead standing there leaning against the banister.

"Surprised to see you here and not raiding the buffet table," Marley joked as she walked up the stairs and Jughead just sighed.

"You okay?" Marley asked and Jughead shook his head.

"No. It's the Serpents. They're meeting to decide if I get kicked out or not," Jughead said and Marley frowned.

"Why would they kick you out? You haven't done anything but help them," Marley said and Jughead sighed before shaking his head.

"I broke a code. I messed up bad. Really bad. There's this person who suckered me into delivering drugs, and my dad too. He got roped in. So a couple Serpents and I, we found her, grabbed her, and I cut her," Jughead said and Marley's eyes widened.

"You cut her?" Marley asked in shock and Jughead sighed before nodding.

"The worst part is none of it even matters. Because she's back. It's like every decision I've made since we broke up, including our break up, just makes things worse and worse," Jughead said and just as Marley took a few steps towards him to comfort him her phone rang.
