We've all congregated in the briefing room waiting for Dawson to arrive to the shift.
She passed the firefighters test!
"Hello?" We hear her voice in the common room, which is normally filled with people. "Hello? Are they out?" she asks Casey, who is with her.
"I don't know." He replies.
"This is weird."
We see her silhouette behind the blinds. "Yeah, it kind of—"
She opens the door and we all cheer for her. "Way to go, Dawson!"
"Yeah!"
"Congratulations!"
She looks completely shocked and then breaks into a smile and we clap and whistle for her. Shay approaches her and gives her a hug. "Mmm, I've never been so turned on." She jokes and we all laugh.
Chief then also gives her a hug, "Okay, you two, let's talk in my office." He says to Casey and her.
Once she comes back out she explains how she has two shifts left at 51 before she moves to 105 in Austin. I wonder who will join ambo with me?
We're soon called out to a fire at St. Mary's. a boarding school. The fire is already raging and it seems to have already spread to every single floor as far as we can see as it blows through the windows.
"Otis and Herrmann are with me. Cruz and Mouch around back. Clock's ticking. Let's go." Casey starts immediately due to the severity of the fire.
"Battalion 25 to main, I need a box alarm. We have a fire, fully involved." Chief radios.
"Me and Mills will take the top floor. Tony, Shay, Capp, Newhouse, you guys take the second." Severide orders. "Let's go."
"Got everyone accounted for?" asks Chief to a man in a suit nearby.
"I'm not sure. Some kids had free time and weren't on campus." He explains.
The companies run inside and bring out casualties one-by-one handing them to the different Ambulances while we all triage.
"You have one minute. One minute." Radios Boden.
"Copy that, Chief." Severide replies and hearing his voice makes my heart flutter. "Last hallway, let's go!"
"West wing's clear." Casey announces after bringing out his last few victims.
Chief is watching the way the fire is rolling and the colour of the smoke very carefully and after a few moments he picks up his radio again. "Okay, I'm calling it. Everybody out. Pull back. Everybody out."
"I got one more, Chief." replies Sev and I breathe out a sharp breath. "I got you, buddy. Easy! Easy. All right, we're gonna get you out of here."
"Second floor's all clear." Half of Squad come out of the building and onto the street.
"Severide, what's your status?" asks Chief.
He doesn't reply.
We're faced with silence. Just before we hear an explosion roar from inside.
