"Good morning, ladies."
"Morning," I smile in return to Mills.
"Peter Mills, it's the saddest thing. The Christmas lights at the north gate got blown down." Shay tells him a little sarcastically.
"What? We are gonna have to do something about that." He says.
"The fireman that saved Christmas," replies Shay and he smirks at her while I grab a mug and pour myself a coffee.
"You think if I asked him to my cousin's Christmas party, he might take it the wrong way?" Dawson asks looking at his back as é walks away.
"Family functions are usually reserved for serious suitors, so shouldn't you be asking Casey?" I ask.
"I just need a date so that my cousin doesn't make any more comments about how I'm gonna die alone."
"So you afraid Casey will say no?" Shay asks.
"Bitch, please." Dawson smirks.
"So, um, what do you think I should get Kelly for Christmas?" I ask, wanting a little help. He's very hard to buy for. Dawson and Shay each give me a look with a wide smile plastered on their faces. "What?"
"So you two are getting serious?" Dawson says.
"I wouldn't say serious..." I watch their facial expressions, "okay, so maybe we're getting on really well, and he stays over a lot and we spend nearly everyday together but--"
"He hasn't clarified what you actually are," Shay understands.
"No, he hasn't. I wish he'd ask me to be his girlfriend or something or not even that just tell me what we are so I know where I stand. It's been weeks and weeks since we went on our first date."
"He's a little slow on the uptake of things, I could say something if you wa--" suggests Shay.
"No!" I quickly reply, "thanks but no. That'd just seem desperate. I'd rather him do it in his own time."
"Engine 51, truck 81, ambulance 61." The buzzer sounds telling us about an incident and we head to the extremely expensive looking house.
"I was deep-frying eggplant. I turned my back for a minute and there were flames everywhere." A lady in a wine coloured top says holding her hand out, "I, I tried to beat it out with a towel, I--"
"Let these two take care of that hand." Casey says and we bring her to the back of the ambo, sitting her down and treating the burn while the truck company enter her home and vent, putting out a fairly small fire.
"You'll probably need a new countertop, but everything else is okay." Casey tells her just as I finish wrapping the bandage around her small burn.
"Oh, my God, thank you. Thank you so much." she says and then runs back indoors.
"Truck 81, are you available to assist at a pin-in accident?" The radios sound.
"Truck 81 responding." Matt says and they pack up before racing off again.
"Come back. Somebody stop them!" The lady yells.
"Ma'am, what's the problem?" asks Boden.
"My diamond necklace was sitting right there on my dresser, and now it's gone. And one of those firemen took it." She jabs a finger in the direction that the Truck just went in.
