"Truck 21, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, structure fire at the 1400 block of Ogden and Washington Avenue."
The fire seems to be at the most prominent on the fifth floor. The edges around the windows are already charred and smoke is spreading its way across the rest of the apartment block. A bald man runs up to the companies. "This is my building. You got to do something."
"Anybody inside?" asks Casey.
"I don't know," he replies. "There were men working on the upper two floors."
"Primary search on the sixth floor," announces Kelly. "Let's go."
"We'll check out the fifth floor. Cruz, extend the aerial." Casey orders.
"On it."
"All right, I'll take Dawson and vent the roof." Herrmann says.
"You clear the fifth floor. Dawson and I will vent the roof." replies Casey.
He looks down at Dawson for a moment and then turns back, "Whatever you say, Lieutenant."
Cruz raises the aerial safely and the Casey and Dawson climb their way up while carrying the heavy equipment that they need.
Suddenly a window bursts up on the fifth floor and a man half jumps, half falls onto the terrace.
"Damn it!" Cruz picks up his radio. "Casey, Dawson, are you clear on the roof? We got to move this aerial. Herrmann, you got a victim on the fifth floor balcony, north side. Can you get to him?"
"That's a negative. Hallway's obstructed. We can't get past the middle."
"Casey, you two good on the roof? I got to move this aerial." Cruz repeats.
"Copy that. We're good."
He brings it down slightly and then moves it to the right before climbing his way up to the victim. He then crawls across the balcony, drags the body back to the aerial and gets him down.
We wheel the gurney over to him and place the victim down. Cruz bends over, hands on his knees and coughs deeply. "Are you okay?" I check and he nods. Most likely mild smoke inhalation.
"Squad 3, Truck 81 report." Boden radios, as he arrives on the scene, to see what's going on.
"Fifth floor is clear. We're coming out." Herrmann replies.
"North end of the building is flashing over, Chief. We got to pull back." Kelly's voice comes through.
"Copy that. Where's Lieutenant Casey?" Chief speaks.
"He's venting the roof with Dawson." Herrmann tells him.
"Casey! Dawson! I want you off that roof, now!"
"Copy that, Chief."
"Cruz, get that aerial back up there, now."
"Copy, Chief."
We have to take our patient to the hospital but we later find out that Dawson and Casey used their bail-out gear to get off the roof safely as their path was blocked by the high-rising fire.

"Can all those involved with Molly's please follow me?" Chief calls and we follow him. He takes us out to where the potential Molly's II van has been parked for weeks and weeks. "Approximately how long can I expect my beautiful firehouse to be defiled by this atrocity?"
"Sorry, Chief. It's not exactly running at the moment." Mouch tried to explain.
"We'll get it out of here, soon." Cruz agrees.
