"Did you, or did you not do something to Keeler?" I ask the three guys back at my apartment.

"No!" Kelly snaps back. "We did not."

"Then do you have an alibi to give Intelligence?" I ask and none of them meet my eye again. "Jeff?" I turn to him. Hoping for some more luck.

"Look, we were at a dodgy dealer, flogging some of my things because I'm strapped for cash right now." Capp says. "We didn't do anything to Keeler, but we don't have an alibi either."

"The dealer won't talk to the police about anything, besides, we think he's wanted so they wouldn't take his word for it anyway." Clarke agrees.

I look to Kelly and raise my eyebrows. "That's true." He says to me.

I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose. "Okay." I nod. "Then you were all here, all day. Watching movies and taking up all the space. I was in our room, talking to Shay because I've got an eight hour call log on my phone for a FaceTime conversation with her." I tell them.

"Thank you," they all mumble in unison.

"Great," I nod. "You can work out the other details between yourselves." I walk away from them and go into the bedroom, climbing under the warm duvet and curling up into a ball.

This isn't what I need right now but Kelly constantly has my best interests at heart I have to protect him. He's all I've got.

Eventually, the door opens. I keep my eyes shut as though I'm asleep. I can hear rustling as Kelly gets ready for bed and climbs in next to me.

His breath tickles my skin just before he softly kisses my shoulder. He sighs as he moves back and lays his head on the pillow.

I roll over to face him, nose to nose and place my hand on his cheek, running my thumb back and forth over his stubble.

No words need to be said between us.

That's when I close my eyes and truly fall asleep.

"Okay, the suggestion box on what I should get Cindy for our 20th anniversary is now closed, 'cause I figured out the perfect gift all on my own." says Herrmann in the common room. "A vasectomy."

The room goes silent.

"Uh, has she been after you to get one?" asks Clarke.

"Nah, it never came up. It's gonna be a surprise."

Chief approaches him and pats his shoulder. "Mazel tov."

"Thanks, Chief." Herrmann pulls his upper lip into his mouth with his teeth.

"You're seriously going to surprise her with the fact that you got snipped without her knowing about it first?" asks Mouch.

"Yeah, 'cause we're soul mates, jackass, and that's what soul mates do."

"Have you met your wife?" Cruz almost laughs. "She's that very Catholic lady that sleeps next to you."

"She was in labor for 18 hours with kid number 5. She'd be doin' backflips over this if she, you know, hadn't put on a little extra baby weight." Herrmann defends his actions.

Mouch raises his hand to talk, "Bad idea."

"Shut it, Mouch." Herrmann roles his eyes and walks away as the guys in the room laugh.
