Hi, my name is Sydney, but I'm not from Australia. I live in a small town in Virginia that barely gets any excitement. But my parents own a teeny apartment in New York because my dad always goes on long business trips there.
I go to highschool and I'm a Junior. Speaking of school, there are only 4 weeks left! My dad promised to take me along with him on a business trip this summer. I'm hoping to see Bastille in concert. He said we would try because I've gotten all A's all year, 5 years in a row.
But anyway, today's Sunday (thankfully) and I sit in my room studying. So pull up my playlist on Sound Cloud and hit replay. Of coarse, Bastille comes on.
I play my music quietly, so I don't disturb my autistic brother. He gets really loud when I play Bastille, since he doesn't like them.
Anyway, I study for World Studies, since Mr. Peetry likes to give us huge pop-quizzes, when my dad walks in.
"Hey, I'm leaving again. Another damn conference." he says, kissing me on the forehead.
"Bye dad! Get me some airplane cookies!" I request before he closes my door.
Nathan (my brother) starts to scream again, so I put my stuff down and go into his room. Mom doesn't really help with this stuff, so I triple as Nathan's therapists, mother, and sister.
Mom has enough problems though, her boss is awful at paying her and she hates her job. She always tells me how I "have to set a good example."
I hug him close, he's only 11 but he's almost taller than me and it's hard to get him under control. He swings a punch, freaked out by a spider, that hits me in the eye.
He begins to cry, trying to apologize. I hug him again and tell him everything is going to be ok.
