The doorbell rings shortly after I get home.

"I've got it, mom!" I shout.

I run downstairs and open the door.

"Hi Mrs. Hood!" I say cheerfully.

Calum and his mom stand in the doorway. This is gonna be good.

"Hi! May we come in?" she asks.

"Surely! My mom is on a business call so we'll have to be quiet." I say, opening the door wider.

Calum makes a face as his mom walks past, but I just smile.

"Is there something I can help you with?" I ask.

I show them to the kitchen and pull out chairs for them.

"Yes, Calum came home today claiming the wildest thing happend when he was walking home," she says.

She clearly doesn't believe him. "He said that you got your dog to attack him. Is that true?" She clasps her hands on the marble table.

"I wish we had a dog, but you see my brother is autistic. That doesn't run too smoothly. But no, I would never want to hurt anyone!" I say.

This is soo easy!

"That's what I thought!" she says, looking to her son.

"Okay, then it was the neighbor's dog!" Calum interjects.

"The neighbors do have a dog..." I admit.

"See! I told you!" he says, as if rubbing it in his mom's face.

"...But she has an electric collar. She can't leave her yard."

"How would you know?" Calum asks.

"Because I take care of her while the Jones' are gone." I reply.

He sticks a finger at me and gets all up in his mom's face.

"Calum. Stop. Ok, well thank you, Sydney, for helping us straighten things out." she replies with a bit of a sigh.

I hold the door for them as they leave. "Glad I could help. Have a nice night." I say.

I close the door, trying to retain my laughter.

"Who was that?" my mom shouts.

"Calum and his mom. It was nothing." I assure her.

"When are you going to pick up Nathan?" she shouts again.

"I can't drive yet!" I remind her.

She sighs really loudly. I hear a few things crash as she comes out of her office.

"I'm going to get Nathan." she huffs as she grabs her keys.

"Okay, have fun." I say. I climb the steps and go into my room. I shut and lock the door then finish my homework.

Hi

or Hey, whichever works. Sorry that was a really short chapter.

I forgot to mention, there is quite a bit of truth to the book:

1. My brother is 11 and slightly autistic.

2. I had the same situation with the whole, "seat buddy" thing.

3. My friends actually call me a bitch, but we mostly call eachother anuses. We are totally joking, though.

4. I had a guy like Calum in my classes, although he never physically hurt me.

5. I have had all A's all year for 3 years in a row.

6. I fucking love books.

There are more but I don't want to spoil anything. *Wink wink*

I seriously can't thank you enough for reading my books. You are all very important and I love you!

No homo 😘~S.S.
