Betty tried for hours on end to stop thinking about Veronica, but just couldn't. Every time she closed her eyes, all she could think of was Veronica's eyes and touch and the way her cheeks felt under her fingertips. Every time it replayed she felt her cheeks burn up and her heart skip a beat, but her guilty conscience also grew stronger. The kiss may have only lasted a few seconds, but they were the longest few seconds Betty had ever experienced in her life.
She knew she had to face Jughead at some point. I mean, it was bad enough that she cheated, but she hadn't visited him either. He almost died and she never even went to say hi.
The truth was that she was scared to visit him; their last conversation had left an imprint on her mind and she hadn't had the courage to face him yet. But, like with all problems, she knew she had to deal with it at some point.
"Ok" She thought to herself as she looked out the window into the night sky. "I'll go see him tomorrow after school"
And with that, she drifted off into an anxious sleep.
"Betty? Betty wake up"
Betty opened her eyes slowly and noticed Veronica sitting on the edge of her bed.
"Veronica..? What are you doing here?? What time is it-"
"That doesn't matter right now" Veronica's voice was calm and soft as she smiled.
Betty was confused.
"Why are you here V?" She asked again, her confusion only growing. Moonlight was seeping into her room through her window and everything was dead quiet.
"I couldn't sleep.. I kept thinking about that kiss" She looked down, smiling.
"Veronica I told you that was-"
Betty was interrupted by Veronica placing a soft kiss on her lips.
"You talk too much B" She said as she slowly put her hands on Betty's cheeks.
Betty's breathing hitched and her heart starting pounding. She couldn't bring herself to pull away.
"Veronica what are you doing-" She said in a whisper.
Then Veronica got up and started walking towards the door.
"Veronica?? Veronica where are you going?" Betty asked as she watched her leave.
Suddenly, she felt someone tap her shoulder. She turned around as confusion and fear raced through her mind.
"Relax Betty, it's just me" The voice behind her said in a soothing voice.
"Jughead?! What-"
"I said relax" He chuckled. "I wanted to see you.. They discharged me from the hospital a few hours ago and I came straight here".
"What? But it's the middle of the night-"
"Shh Betty, you talk too much" He said, smiling.
The pair went silent before Jughead leaned in for a kiss. Betty, who's confusion only seemed to be growing, pulled away.
He scoffed and looked down.
"Right. Should have known" He said, disappointment radiating from his voice.
Then, he got up and walked out the room.
"No Jughead wait i'm sorry!" Betty shouted as she got up and ran after him.
