Chapter 9: Fight Fire With Ice

Both the girls' eyes widened in shock.

"W-what?! WHY?!" Veronica asked, not knowing how to react.

Cheryl and her minions scoffed. "Well, that's for me to know and for you to wonder about" She winked.

The girls looked at each other with a mix of shock and confusion.

"You can't.. You can't just do that!" Now it was Betty's turn to speak.

Cheryl chuckled. "Oh  but that's the thing Betsikins" Betty winced at hearing that name coming from someone other than Veronica. "I can". And with a satisfied smirk, she was gone.

The whole gang was speechless. They didn't know why Cheryl hated them so much but she was getting worse. At first they thought it was just because she hated everyone who didn't comply to her status quo, but now they were realising that it was just personal. They had never done anything to her, the only things that had happened were purely self defence, so they really didn't deserve to be treated like this.

Everyone was quiet for a full 5 minutes before Kevin broke the ice. 

"Oh my god what and absolute BITCH"

"Yeah, I can't believe she just did that!" Archie added, annoyed that she was still messing with his friends.

"She's not a cheer captain, she's a cheer tyrant" Jughead eye rolled.

Everyone nodded in agreement. They didn't know what to say.

Suddenly, the bell broke the silence and it was time to go back to class. Betty and Veronica had English literature together next, so they made their way to the classroom side by side in silence.

The air was tense around them. Not towards each other of course, but they were both thinking of ways to get back at Cheryl.

Once they arrived, they sat down and took their books out.

Suddenly, just as class started, Veronica got an idea. She turned towards the focused Betty next to her and got her attention;

"Psst Betty"

Betty turned around, confused.

"What?"

"I have an idea-"

"Ladies! Am i interrupting something?!" The girls jumped at the teacher's sudden loud voice.

Veronica turned back and answered.

"No sir, sorry"

When the teacher turned around again to write on the board, Veronica turned back to Betty.

"So as i was saying before, i think we should-" Unfortunately she spoke a little too loud.

"MS LODGE!! This is your second warning, please. Stop. Talking."

"Right right yeah sorry sir".

The teacher turned around with a suspicious look in his eye, and went back to writing. Veronica decided to then try again.

"Ok being a little more discrete this time, i know what to do" She whispered gently.

"What are you thinking?" Betty whispered back.

"Well-"

"MS LODGE AND MS COOPER IF I CATCH YOU TALKING ONE MORE TIME I WILL SEPARATE YOU TWO"

The girls sank in their chairs in defeat, knowing they'd never get to talk in this class. So, Veronica decided to write what she needed to say on a little note and pass it to Betty.
