I wake up and I am dying of hunger.

I think I feel my stomach eating itself, but you know, I feel that every day because I'm always hungry. I think I remember my dad coming in to wake me up to go and eat but I was out of it, waving him away so I could sleep.

I totally regret it now.

I sit up, stretching my arms over my head before I crawl out of my bed, my feet (still with shoes on) hit the floor with a loud thump.

"Alrighty, let's go Zed, Addison will be waiting." I pump myself up and go over to my dumbbells. Before anything at all— exercise comes first. I do a hundred reps, three sets of them to be exact before my arms start to burn and I drop them to the floor. I pick up a couple of smaller weights and start some jumping jacks. I have to keep a toned body, can't disappoint the football fans and more importantly—Addison. I catch a glimpse of my sweaty face in the mirror and I wink. Still looking amazing.

I gather a fresh set of clothes and run off into the bathroom to take a shower. I take a deep breath when I'm out, feeling refreshed. My stomach growls at me and I head to the kitchen. Dad's not up yet and neither is Zoey so I make a mess in the kitchen reheating leftover Garlic cauliflower and while I wait for that I pour myself a bowl of cereal. I scarf that down and grab an apple and a banana which are quickly devoured. The garlic and Parmesan is smelling amazing now and I serve myself some, finishing it up in a jiffy. I pick up another couple of apples as I go grab my bag.

The air is starting to chill outside but it's still beautiful and sunny.

"Zed!" A familiar voice calls out to me. I search around finding Eliza waving at me by the gate.

I smile at her, "What's up, Eliza."

"Morning you idiot."

"That's all-star idiot, thank you very much," I say as we start to walk to school. Eliza rolls her eyes.

"Where's Bonzo?" I wonder. He normally walks with us.

"Am I supposed to follow him around wherever he goes?"

"You can if you want to, I don't." I joke, snapping both of my fingers at her.

She shrugs, "He said he wasn't feeling well, so he's staying home today."

"Oh that sucks, I hope he feels better soon."

"Well after the first time he ate ice cream and it didn't sit well with him, I would think he would stop eating it, so you know it's all his fault. He suffers because he wants to."

"It's completely delicious and utterly amazing. You can't stop eating it."

Eliza scrunches her eyebrows, "I'm pretty sure that's what my grandma said as a defense 50 years ago?"

I scoff but I can't help myself from laughing, "Huge difference, Eliza."

She rolls her eyes again and begins to laugh with me, "Guess that's sort of true."

"Not sort of, It's true."

She waves her hand at me, "whatever."

...

Eliza is telling me about the things she is doing in computer class and I lose her when she begins to talk about inputs and outputs and sensors for keyboards. I know what the words mean but when she talks about them all I hear is mumbling and some buzzing in my ears.

I see the high school ahead, and a lot of students bustling around the front, a hum of voices everywhere.

"What's going on over there?" Eliza asks, nodding towards a few students standing in front of the school's window.
